I need to catch up on various old faves that I've fallen behind on (Mad Men, Weeds, Dexter--though I'm waiting for Dexter to come out on dvd because I got sick of searching for new episodes), and those

I've heard great things about Survivors, though I haven't seen it yet.

I'm going to deviate from your list (sorry!) and recommend Firefly and Avatar: The Last Airbender.
Neither show is horribly long (Firefly is one season and a movie and Avatar is three seasons), but both have such rich, well-developed worlds and amazing re-watch value. I have the box sets for both, and I don't buy DVDs often.

Plus, if you were to watch Firefly, I have a feeling you would love Simon and Mal to pieces. ♥
