Hawkeye has always seemed to me to have a deeply ingrained sense of justice and fair play. I can't picture her going out for revenge, but Ed... his passions tend to rule him. And he's seen so many bad things; something like this I can easily imagine hitting a faultline in him, and cracking his heart open.
