Oh dear, I might submit to this. Granted, if I told everything, it would make me look like an awful person.

Plus, I think my mom has the only decent picture of me from prom night. I don't have any of the proper, professional prom photos.

the best prom photos are the unprofessional ones! i don't have any "proper" photos either (since those were only taken by kids with dates. ha.) please do write something! :)

you could also write a piece about prom-themed...movies! hmmm? :) but you'd still have to send a picture of yourself! ;)

I thought most zinesters didn't go to their prom because we were socially awkward, alternative-ish, unpopular kids who had more important things to worry about than prom, like, the revolution. Just me, then?

I was all that...but still got peer pressured into going into prom. Making it #2 of probably the two times I was peer pressured into anything in high school.

And pressure to go to prom was from the alternative/punk kids at the second high school I went to!

alterna-kids went to their prom just to fuck shit up! ;) i was totally socially awkward (WAS?) and a big nerd. i went for the same reason iona on "pretty in pink" goes--didn't want to feel like i was missing something when i grew up!

i dropped out of high school before prom. prom is only for juniors & seniors & i dropped out my first semester, junior year. & i never socialized with older kids in high school, so i never got to go to prom with an older friend. i DID go to homecoming my junior year (mere weeks before quitting school). just to fuck shit up. we were escorted from the premises by police officers about fifteen minutes after we showed up. after seriously fucking shit up.

I would love to submit something for this, but i don't have access to any of my prom photos. They're all 3,000 miles away from me, in a box in my mother's basement, behind a wall of other boxes -- in fact, not entirely like that scene at the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" where they pack the Ark of the Covenant away in a warehouse in a plain wooden box surrounded by thousands of other wooden boxes. And, dude, if you opened the box containing my prom photos, your face would melt clean off your head just like Belloq's. S'truth.

So, anyway, i'd love to submit, but i ain't got no fo-to. :( Oh, well.

i can accept the excuse that they're THREE THOUSAND!!! miles away. ;) as long as you aren't just saying you can't get to them because faces would melt off and whatnot. is there anyone out there who is happy with the way they looked at prom? that's what i'd like to know. do submit something!

It's not that i think i look all that awful, really (do i think i look *good*, per se? no. but do i think i look BAD? no, not really, just awkward, and who didn't when they were 17?), but a box that contains so much of my past must surely have some sort of awful mystic power. (Also, personally i'd feel uncomfortable having my prom pics printed anywhere, because, to the best of my recollection, all of them are me AND the friends i went to the prom with -- i don't think we took any of *just* me. And i wouldn't want to print *their* pics, too, w/out their permission, which i wouldn't be able to get anymore.) If you don't mind my submitting something w/out photo, i'll start working on something! What's your deadline?

Also, i am now listening to all my '80s music, starting with the "Pretty In Pink" soundtrack, and it's ALL YOUR FAULT!!! ;)
