Sooooo...we were standing in the kitchen, discussing the possibility of going to see Black Swan tonight, and I said, "I'm...not actually sure you'd like it. There's uhm...supposed to be some pretty hardcore lesbian scenes."

...So then he gets this really intense/odd look on his face--I don't even know what to call it--and says ( Read more... )

Well, if you dad's a straight guy, I think he won't mind at all to see two girls going at it because they are, well, girls, and your dad hits on girls and not on guys. I got a similar response from my mom about it - she's straight and told me that two guys going at it was okay, but two girls for her it was just gross.

Call it a parent thing, but it seems they prefer to see people of their opposite gender go at it than see people of their gender make out.

Huuu, well usually that is how it works, yes. But I mean--admittedly, you haven't been watching me on here for long, so you wouldn't know this I guess--but my dad is...really homophobic (granted, he's gotten a lot better recently). For religious reasons--he's a Jehovah's Witness. And he put up a huge fuss (and that's an understatement) when I came out--which lasted over two years, before he started to really accept it, and even now he still has his...moments.

I actually called him on it--would have added it to the journal before, but I had limited space because I was posting from my PSP--and he basically said that that was different, because it was me. Which...yes, I can understand, but eh.

My point is...that comment was one of the very last things I'd ever expect to hear from my dad. So yeah, I honestly, literally did not know what to think of that, or how to react. Still don't, but I've decided I might as well just laugh it off, right? xD

I don't expect any less from the church to have made him homophobic. All religions are too restricting for their own goods. *glares at them*

Well, I'm glad that your dad is starting to accept it, be it little by little XD

True, but as I said to someone in another reply already--my dad is a Jehovah's Witness. He's always been reeaaaally homophobic, and it almost cost me my relationship with him when I came out a few years ago, so. I was noooot expecting that from him. At all. Ever;; xD
