Recommendations Musical
Zoe Keating--Gorgeous multi-layered cello strangeness. It is atmospheric and grand and unnerving--and also wordless, which makes it invaluable typing/reading music.
K’Naan-So hey, it turns out that I don’t actually hate rap as a genre. K’Naan is proof that clever, wise, catchy hip-hop is not an oxymoron. He grew up in war- ( Read more... )

Sweet potatoes are fucking delicious.

Hmm, I don't really have any recs for you as most everything I've been enjoying lately are things you already know of/have already enjoyed. Musically, I've recently been enjoying the hell out of the Scissor Sisters and (I have to admit) Lady Gaga, definitively proving that I am a gay nightclubber trapped in the body of a suburban 21-year-old girl. (My inner Rufus has been prancing around a little more wildly is what I'm saying).

I recommend Sherlock Holmes to anyone who hasn't seen it (I know you've seen it twice, you lucky duck). And if you enjoyed the film, but haven't read the stories I highly recommend them as well, as they can either be taken at surface value as the adventures of an asexual detective and his partner/kickass fanboy or, if you're in the mood, the tale of one epically slashy romance:

Suddenly, however, as we neared our destination he seated himself opposite to me--we had a first-class carriage to ourselves--and laying a hand upon each of my knees he looked into my eyes with ( ... )

Yea icon! Yea sweet potatoes! They are even better in the winter, am I right?

Hum, I am no fan of Lady Gaga, but this talk of Scissor Sisters intrigues me. Which of their songs are the best? And sidenote: there is nothing wrong with the occasional prance!

I want to read Sherlock Holmes so badly, but the library is completely out! It is tragic. Do you have any Holmes books you wouldn't mind possibly lending me at Holly's sleepover?

Holmes reminding Watson to bring his gun? That's not the coke-addled fly-catching Bohemian sleuth I know!

As for Imaginarium, I will direct you to my comment to thenakedcat: http://pancakerabbit06.livejournal.com/56985.html?thread=322201#t322201

If you haven't already, I just read The Year of the Flood, by Margaret Atwood. It's the prequel to Oryx and Crake, and are fantastic dystopic outbreak fiction.

Year of the Flood is totally on my to-read list. I loved Oryx and Crake, especially all the creepy world-building details. Nobody can spin a dystopic yarn quite like good old Maggie Atwood!

My mommy discovered a recipe for red velvet cheesecake that rivals her red velvet cake in goodness. Did I mention that I think the regular cake loses?

Having tried her red velvet cake, I have a hard time imagining it being bested by any breed of cheesecake, but I will take your work for it. Any way a girl could get her hands on this alleged cheesecake recipe?

I'm sure I can get my hands on the recipe... or at least a nice cheesecacke. :D
