I'm reading this excellent article about the goodness of God, partially because I've learned recently that some of my Christian friends actually doubt God's goodness.  I cannot stress enough how dangerous I think that attitude is.  I guess I'll have to share more of my testimony to really bring home how I feel bad theology has affected my life, but

God is the ultimate good. That doesn't mean that He is a fairy godmother who gives me everything I desire and doesn't allow the hard things of life to touch me. It doesn't mean that He approves of everything I do; He loves me too much to allow me to go undisciplined, but He never leaves me in the punishment.

Everything that happens to me can be used for good if I will only allow God to work through me. When I look back at the bad things that happened in my life, I can't wish they never happened because I learned such strong lessons from them. I wouldn't wish for hard things to happen to me, but I thank God for the way they've shaped my character, taught me, and made my heart softer toward my fellowman.

God is good. All the time.
