Thanks. It's really much better now. I think, weirdly, that I was lucky to have the emotional high of a convention to sustain me during the first few awful days.

You are . . . not the _last_ person I ever expected to be quoting "Seven Nation Army," but certainly not high on my list, either.

And ugh about the injury. Two weeks out you probably have your pillow fortress perfected, or I'd suggest asking any formerly-pregnant people in your vicinity if they had any body pillows left over from their pregnancies. Hope you feel better soon.

With regard to the song, your basic reaction is pretty accurate. However, I am fortunate to have three partners who actively seek out new music and introduce me to it. I've liked the song since I first heard it, but what really got me interested was Raphael's finding a video of the Oak Ridge Boys doing a cover version. It's easier to discern the lyrics in their version.

I was thinking about body pillows during Minicon, yes. I think the need has passed, but if things take a weird turn I'll certainly remember that people who were once pregnant are likely to have a spare one. It wouldn't have occurred to me. Thanks.

I like the original fine, but I love the faster, more electronic cover that I discovered from this tremendously fun vid - http://charmax.livejournal.com/122262.html - in which the vidder takes a half-a-dozen movies/TV shows and turns them into three-and-a-half-minutes of "the Rainbow Coalition v. fascist robots."

And yeah, I never happened to need a body pillow, but I certainly saw them discussed and recommended when I was doing my beached whale impression.

Oh, good heavens, that's awesome. I don't think that's what the song is about, but it's a grand video. Wakes a person right up. I have moods where it would be just the right thing, and I will revisit it.

I burst out laughing every time I recognized a clip, which was only about half the time, but still.

Ugh. Worst I ever had was some separated cartilage, which was excruciating. I hope you get well soon.

That's quite possibly worse, in the way that soft-tissue damage is often worse than straight bone injury. Thank you for the kind wishes.

*totally cracks up*

I am so much the opposite of cool, I can't even tell you.

But I have very, very cool partners, and they give the the semblance of coolness.

Oh, yes, they all totally are.

Possibly I have a perception problem. 8-)

Not a bad idea at all. They aren't very perishable, and people have been known to sprain their ankles at Minicon, too, from time to time. When I was thinking of taking ibuprofen regardless of my hands, I planned to ask in the Green Room for it, but I decided I'd better not.
