Jimmy just had the biggest tantrum ever. And it went on forever. We've been night weaning again, since we had to start over after the beach trip. I gave him a week to get back into his schedule, which only kind of happened, then I started trying to get him to at least go until midnight. Whoo! buckle up! we didn't have these kinds of displays until right after the 3rd birthday. tantrums end with me leaving the room, saying that I'm not going to watch it and she can come out when she calms down. they go away mighty fast when they realize they have no audience, but you have to make sure that they don't feel unlovable afterward. they are really in need of reassurance that they are still loved after an outburst like that. Wren started them really bad right after I became pregnant and I used to lock myself in my room and let her thrash it out at the door to avoid either one of us getting hit. it's really easy to loose you temper in a situation like that! time out is effective for cooling off, not punishment.
