Step #2 - Where to place my story

We know this story will take place in India. But which city in this large, lush, diverse country is right for my story?
My heroine drives to university and her job then drives home.  Aasha lives in a small village that is close enough for daily travel but far enough to have old-fashioned ideas. Her home can be as far away as an hour from the city, ( Read more... )

Paly,

As soon as I read the 2nd criteria, Chandigarh popped to head. My older sis studied architecture and I recall she could not stop talking about Chandigarh and Le Corbusier. I think it meets all your needs!! Additionally Aasha is Sikh, so capital of Punjab is perfect!! I am sure that there are other choices too, but IMO, this is perfect.

Cool! I discussed it off-line with my betas and they're okay with this choice, too. I have some friends that live outside of the city so I can run details past them if I'm confused about things.

I once had gone to Chandigarh and fell in love with it immediately. Its such a beautiful city. Its perfect.

Me, too! I spent a full week there the last time I visited India and didn't want to leave. Sadly, reality called me back home. I hope to someday spend more time and just explore this beatiful city. Maybe I can use this book as an excuse to go back. Ohh, another reason to love this story! I hope I do a good job.
