Ainsley was exhausted as anything and, admittedly, was spending the day tucked under her covers, just in case Halloween was as disastrous as last year. She was a mussed mess when she heard the knock and then saw the hair, looking blearily at whoever it was.

"I think you have the wrong room," she drawled, accent thick with sleep.

Oh, she was still normal-sized. Good. Maybe it really was just him.

He shook his head and opened the door enough that he could pad into the room. The bed looked enormous and temptingly soft, but Shadow resisted the urge to clamber onto it.

"Ainsley, it's Shadow," he said quietly in a fit of sudden nerves. What if she didn't believe him, like Karen had? What if she didn't like him now that he was tiny and made him leave? "I'm just...little."

Ainsley blinked rapidly as she rubbed her eyes and tried to figure out what was going on or if she was still in the grips of a very, very realistic dream. She should have known better, though, given she had seen this kind of thing before. "Shadow," she started warily, "don't take this the wrong way, but you are incredibly tiny with some incredibly giant hair right now."

"I know," he said and curled his fingers into his tightly wound curls. He'd always sort of liked his hair when he was little, all huge and everywhere. It wasn't til gum got in it when he was nine that his mom had got him to cut it shorter.

Despite knowing better, he clambered up onto the foot of her bed and curled his knees up. "It was like this when I was little."
