P.S. I have a meeting with Thorpe this Wednesday! He is doubtful but maybe he can put me in touch with someone who can say "yes I would be happy to be your supervisor/advisor on such a project." I'm going to work on writing it up some more, fleshing it out. I checked out those names you gave me and ended up spending a lot of time reading about the Matthew Effect and it's history with major prizes. Also picked up that classic McLuhan's Understanding Media because I think there's an aspect to the mode of communication (journal articles vs. interpersonal contact) that I would like to, at least briefly, address...
