There are times when, yes, one does have to put their social life on hold in favour of work/school. However, there are also times when taking a break, and rewarding ones self is necessary, as long as it doesn't get out of hand there shouldn't be a problem. Rather than go out both nights you chose one, which to me seems like a responsible decision.

Yes, that happy medium. Hard to find, but wonderful once experienced.
