IDW to do Doctor Who Comics

Jul 27, 2007 15:07

As seen on ComicMix...

The series is scheduled to start in December of this year, and will feature Ten and Martha. It'll be written by Gary Russell (Doctor Who story editor for the BBC), with art by Nick Roche.

Keen!

Here's an interview about it on Newsarama.

It gets a lot factually wrong about the past comics history of the Doctor, but granted the article is written from an American perspective.

The bit about IDW reprinting the old Tom Baker stories illustrated by Dave Gibbons is interesting--Panini issued a trade paperback of those two years ago, and Marvel reprinted them (and colored them) in the mid-80s. (And, I'm not ashamed to say that a Doctor Who story I might hypothetically have written references one of those stories, hypothetically speaking.) So it's odd to me that these stories are already available in a convenient--though difficult to come by in the US--form, and they're being reprinted again. (On the other hand, IDW is reprinting old UK Transformers stuff as part of their Transformers line, and they seem to be doing well by that ( ... )

I believe I am sharing a room with you at the BnB for the Hamlet meet up. I'm not getting in till Saturday morning though, its my first time doing a meet up thing and am a bit worried about how finding everyone is going to work, so I wondered if I could have your mobile number in order that I at least can contact the people im staying with, also in case i get lost getting to the hotel...

Thanks,

Sara

ps. realize this is quite early, with 2 weeks still to go, but I'm off on holiday without internet access until late friday before the performance, so kinda need to sort stuff before I go away.
