Bill Simmons answering reader questions, about Tiger. Sure, it's about Tiger Woods, but there is interesting stuff here about the reaction to stories of this nature, and the parts of the story (the story about the story) that intrigue me.

But why discuss Tiger Woods? He's just a golf player. One of many people on this earth who have committed adultery. Why view his adultery as something interesting . . . when it's not? Why do people feel it's necessary to live their lives through celebrities and then get on their soap boxes when said celebrities make a mistake? Can you answer that?
How many times did you hear someone say "Can you believe Tiger did that?" over these past two weeks. Like we knew him. And we didn't.
What on earth made you think that you knew Tiger Woods? Because he's a talented golf player?

That being said, i quoted the above because i found it interesting - similar to Don Draper being interesting, Tiger Woods is interesting. Similar to Draper, Tiger Woods is not necessarily a real person - in the sense that i do not know Tiger Woods - but i do know the idea of Tiger Woods, as presented, disseminated and discussed. And so on.
I don't really have too much investment in Woods, I don't really care about golf, but i am usually interested in the going ons of our culture, both high and low. I really have no moral point of view here though.
