It makes me angry how much I forget even now, in my youth. I don't think there's any other horror that can compare to watching someone you love disappear while their body lives on. Alzheimer's takes away the person you love but leaves behind a physical phantom. Like your dad once said, the human body is a shell. I have a hard time being practical about things like that, but his logic probably came from experiencing what he does with your grandma. I suppose the only fruit that can come out of it is already being on the path of missing your grandma.

You and your little brother have a great relationship. I'm sure he misses you more than you can imagine, especially because he's all alone in that whole adolescent war against your parents thing.
