It wasn't long before Squall followed Rinoa out into the snow. Luckily, his usual outfit wasn't too hard to make appropriately weather proof, and with the addition of a few things he'd managed to come up with something appropriate to the colder weather.

He hadn't expected what Rinoa had been planning, however, and he'd barely stepped out of the building before the snowball came hurtling through the air towards him. But even with him recognizing what it was, he didn't move, rooted to the spot not by fear (why should a simple snowball frighten him, in light of all he'd seen) but by surprise. It had been years since he'd last been anywhere near a snowball fight.

The silence only deepened as the snowball impacted with his shoulder. A brief moment later, he blinked, and a faint smile tugged at the corner of his lips. That was certainly one way to deal with snow.

As soon as the snowball made contact with him, she stuck her tongue out at him and laughed, a silent way of say 'got ya!'

"I did mention fighting our way through the snow, didn't I? I feel this is a good start. Besides, I bet you haven't had a snowball fight in ages!" It was only after she said the words that she was picking up, yes, more snow. She was sure he'd be more ready for this one, but that didn't stop her from forming a new ball

Seriously, she was going to get him to join in on this if it killed her, and a smile from him was definitely a good start. Besides, if anything was going to get their minds off the recent nightmares, this would be it.

"Well, planning on fighting back?" She asked him in a teasing manner.

Squall nodded at her question. He'd expected a different sort of 'fighting' then a snowball fight, but she had mentioned fighting their way through the snow. The comment about it having been more than a while since the last time he'd been in a snowball fight was left unanswered. He wasn't going to confirm that, although he wasn't really going to deny it either.

As for the question of whether or not he was going to fight back, there was another brief moment of silence before he bent to pick up some snow of his own. He would most certainly be fighting back.

The moment she spotted him pick up snow, Rinoa was already throwing her next snowball at him with a laugh, yet again not wasting the opportunity. Now if only their other friends were here to see this. I mean, Squall of all people joining in on a snowball fight? Who would have thought it possible? This event was certainly meant for the history books.

This time, the snowball went wide, narrowly missing Squall. Not long after it had sailed by, he was coming back up, throwing his own snowball as he did so. Had their friends actually been around, the odds were pretty good that he wouldn't have been quite so easy to convince but in their absence it wasn't like it would hurt anything.
