"Oh, did you meet Rose?" asked the Doctor, smiling. "Good." He still felt guilt over the way he'd clung to her, the first companion he'd taken after the Time War. He'd held on tightly, knowing that a relationship between a human and a Time Lord could never work, and letting himself have one anyway. And then when the inevitable had happened and she'd disappeared, he'd spent so much time hung up on her that it had helped drive poor Martha away. He'd moved on, since then, left Rose with a version of him that could stay with her, but he was careful to not fall for someone else; with his life, he couldn't afford it.

Setting his guilt aside for the moment, he patted Rory fraternally on the shoulder. "I hope you've been having fun at least."

Rory nodded, "Yeah, she was nice. Let me borrow some clothes to wear from the TARDIS closet. Though I picked up a change from one of the stores as well." The spare set of clothes was tucked in a backpack he'd also gotten at said store. He wasn't as packed as he had been when he'd gone to America, but still was trying to be prepared.

He smiled slightly, glad the Doctor wasn't acting weird about all of this. Maybe he'd had time to come to terms with everything Rory had said. "Yeah, I guess it's been fun." He hadn't DIED yet, that was a plus.

"Oh, that's good," came the reply. "Wouldn't want you running about in your pajamas. Well, maybe. I've done it once or twice." Come to think of it, he'd managed to save the world in his pajamas, but that was another story for another time. "You'll want to watch out for the shops. Some of the owners are picky about who they sell to." Frankly, the idea of restricting custom based on how the potential buyer was dressed struck the Doctor as decidedly ridiculous. He might have to do something about that.

"Oh, fun! Good! I love fun. Just had a lot of it you know." Wait, he'd said that already. Whirling on his heel, the Doctor began to lead Rory to the TARDIS, keeping a careful eye out for any signs of the Master. "Come along, Pond."

"Well, pajamas would be a step above what you showed up in when I first met you," Rory remarked. Of course, if he had shown up in pajamas he might have been the Pajama Doctor instead of Amy's Raggedy Doctor...that would have been weird, wouldn't it? Rory raised an eyebrow, "Picky? They didn't seem very picky to me. I mean their only discrepancy is that I pay them something shiny. That's not exactly picky." That was the opposite of picky.

Rory started following the Doctor, "It's not---oh nevermind."

"Probably because we're boys, and they don't seem to be as picky when it comes to us as to the women. Should have known, really; this place seems to be run on Victorian standards." The Victorian era really wasn't his favorite, not least because of his exile at the hands of a certain unamused Queen (as if he'd ever hold with that sort of thing anyway). "I'll have to take a look at that later." And by 'take a look', he really meant 'bring it down', but if Rory knew him at all, he'd realize what it meant.

He paid Rory's faint protests no mind as he led Rory on, occasionally pointing out places he liked and rambling on about what reminded him of which alien invasion he'd repelled.
