With so few animals in the Pride Lands, it didn't take Scar to turn again to the hyenas. He was quite close to the Elephant Graveyard, making certain that what few were there were quite aware of his plans--or quite out of the way of them. They were no different from how the hyenas had always been, stupid, annoying, and just barely useful enough to not bother killing. Of course...these ones weren't even real, but Scar was finding that less of a concern. They seemed just as physically and mentally capable as they were in the real Pride Lands, and that was good enough for him. Though...a number of Heartless were required to convince them. They couldn't seem to get over the idea that he should be dead. But then...fear had always been quite the good motivator. Watching the Neoshadows rend one of their friends apart had changed their minds rather effectively ( ... )

Could Joshua have been more sneaky? Quite probably. Did he care to? No.

He meandered closer, smelling the darkness before he ever saw the group. It was a peculiar scent, to be sure. He vaguely recognized it as something he'd picked up on in the fight with the masked boy- though with a much keener sense of smell it was much more obvious. Still, when he finally saw the group, there were no Unversed around. There was something similar, but the marks on them were different. This would be something to look in to.

Joshua stopped at a reasonable pace from the group, and was pleased to discover that even as a cat, he could smirk. "I do hope I'm not interrupting anything~" he said, in a playful and somewhat cheery tone that was not but so sincere.

"Oh, not at all~" Scar replied with a deadly grin that resembled a crevice full of teeth as much as a mouth. "To what do we owe the pleasure?"

The hyenas all wore their own malicious, predatory smirks, and were turning toward the smaller cat with small fits of laughter. Scar's own smile fell into a rather insincere mockery of a frown at their unsightly behavior.

"Now now, we don't want our little guest to feel worried, do we?" He walked among the small pack, picking one in particular to pat on the top of the head with his paw. "He's only just arrived, we should show him our hospitality~" Again the crevice of a smile broke across his muzzle, teeth bright white and gleaming in the sunlight.

The scents of the city this visitor to the floor carried on him did not go unnoticed by Scar, though he wasn't the least bit surprised that the hyenas were ignoring them entirely--if they'd even bothered to sniff their prey in the first place, which he was rather certain they didn't, considering some of the rotten fare he'd seen them happily

Worried? Please. Honestly, he found the fact that the hyenas were actually laughing to be rather amusing. For a variety of reasons, not the least of which being that they seemed to think they were the only predators here.

The part about little he'd accept. He was rather small like this, wasn't he?

"Merely exploring," he replied calmly, not at all riled by the hyenas. Or by Scar, for that matter. "Heard something that sounded vaguely like life, thought I'd check out what it was. And here you are."

If it weren't for the fact the hyenas were still around, Scar would have dismissed the Neoshadows by now, as they were starting to seem rather restless. They shifted back and forth in place, as if they were rooted to those spots by some unseen force, as they'd been commanded not to move unless Scar was approached.

The hyenas backed down, the laughter more nervous now, and Scar found himself amused at this outsider's cool demeanor. He was likely one of the many overconfident brats who'd been brought to the city, which meant that underestimating him would be unwise. He'd both witnessed and heard about rather dangerous powers some of the visitors possessed, and he wasn't so confident in the Heartless that he was willing to push his luck.

"You may want to exercise more caution in a place like this, I doubt you like the idea of being trampled flat by an elephant just because you found yourself getting curious."
