“We’re riding in that?” Timon’s voice arose from behind the Doctor, the meerkat found pointing to the little trailer he had attached to the bike. He had seen the strange mode of transportation before many times before, the citizens having used bicycles rather frequently around the city, he had just never had a name for them. But, now that he thought about it, the citizens never had anything like that… thing attached to the back of them. He quirked a brow at the trailer from his perch on the warthogs head, curious as to how it worked. While Pumbaa was sure to gush about his excitement for their little excursion, Timon decided to investigate the bike ( ... )

The bicycle wasn't quite so familiar to Pumbaa, but he hadn't been around nearly as long as Timon. He'd seen them once or twice, maybe, but he'd never paid much attention to them. But now that they were up close, they looked so neat! One time he thought they looked kind of scary, but that was because he saw someone run into something on one, and it had looked like it was eating them. Not very pretty.

"I can't wait to get to ride in it!" he exclaimed, big broad grin plastered on his muzzle as always. He peered over Timon's shoulder at the big thing attached to the back of the bike, then the grin turned into a frown. "H-how could you say that, Timon?" The warthog sniffled a little.

At the sound of Timon's voice, the Doctor whirled around. "Yep!" he replied, a large, childlike grin on his face. "And this must be Pumbaa," he continued. "Hello. I'm the Doctor. The eleventh, mind you. Past me's probably running around somewhere... possibly literally. We do seem to do a lot of running." He loved the running, but he definitely wouldn't put it past his younger self to be getting into all sorts of trouble, even when the city seemed relatively peaceful.

Good, Timon and Pumbaa liked it (and they were from The Lion King; he loved that movie! And the musical, which was equally brilliant). Too bad Timon had to be... well, Timon. "Oh, don't worry about it," he said quickly, trying to smooth things over. "I'm sure that if you were large enough to carry us both, he wouldn't say that. Or perhaps if I were a bit smaller..." He crouched down a bit and wrinkled his nose. "But I don't think I'd like being that short."

“Huh?” To be honest, Timon had not heard a word of what the Doctor had said. It had all been babble to him, what with this ‘running’ he had mentioned. Exercise was far from his forte, which considering the bike ride he had been about to embark on, was rather amusing. Regardless, it was not until Pumbaa had begun to pout the meerkat tuned back into the conversation. He looked from the warthog to the Doctor who seemed to comfort Pumbaa. Timon raised a brow at the man but said nothing of it. Instead he returned to his friend’s side and patted him on the leg ( ... )

The Doctor's words cheered Pumbaa up a little, but the smile was right back where it belonged as soon as Timon explained himself. The warthog hadn't thought of it that way. "Oh, okay buddy! Both of us relaxing at the same time while still getting to see the city does sound really great!"

And it fit right in with the Hakuna Matata philosophy, which suited him just fine. He could imagine it now, the Doctor pedaling away on the bicycle while he rode in the back with his bestest best friend, lounging in style.

Wait, what was a pedal? The question left Pumbaa stumped long enough to miss the bickering about heights.
