Character(s): Rinzler and Vanitas Content: A troll and a ninja cross paths Setting: The ruins of Zanarkand Time: Early afternoon, week 31 Warnings: Violence
This part of the floor was boring. While the darkness of the area was cozy enough, the monsters in the area were barely worth the effort. But it would all be worth checking out if he got to see another door. Though he could warp to the newest floor, this at least gave him an idea for what to look for when he got to the next. Master'd always said to know your terrain. Everyplace he'd fought had been according to plan. Even then, Vanitas had been trained well enough to adapt quickly, and the meager fights he got now from the dumb animals around gave him experience in this type of terrain.
There was a hint of a sound that turned Vanitas's head. One more for target practice. As he grew closer, he caught sight of the source.
Vanitas didn't even try to be quiet. He didn't care. It was another individual wearing a skin-tight black suit and a black helm. The biggest difference was that this one had parts that glowed.
"Hey." The masked boy came around a corner, Keyblade still in hand from his previous fights. "Look, a forgery
There was a moment of silence at Vanitas' words, and then a low rumble of a growl as he turned to look at the interloper. He had no idea who this strange person was, much less whether they were program or user but he was no forgery. He was the enforcer of the grid. Clu's greatest success. Nothing about him was forged.
Besides, it wasn't even like his armor was all that similar to this stranger's, with the possible exception of the helmet and those were everywhere on the Grid. All you really had to do was look at the Black Guard to see that.
A growl. Not what Vanitas had expected, but pleasing nonetheless.
"Hm, cat got your tongue? Guess you can't even fight off a cat, then." Vanitas took a few sauntering steps forward, looking at the other figure up and down, as indicated by a subtle motion of his head.
"And unless you got a magic weapon, looks like you were too dumb to come here armed. Pathetic." Of course, Vanitas knew better. For all he knew, the newcomer could have superhuman strength or speed. But regardless, anyone with the same look caught his interest, if for no other reason than he was fresh meat. A new punching bag.
There was a moment of silence at the first comment. Cat. He knew the definition of that word, although he wasn't sure how he knew he knew, or why. Still, after a brief moment of digging through his memory, he found it. A small four-legged creature Users sometimes kept as pets. Why it should have his tongue, he didn't know, but he knew that he would be able to take one down in the extremely unlikely occasion that one managed to even qualify for the preliminary Games
( ... )
There was a distinct smile in Vanitas's tone. That had gotten a reaction. "A sparkly frisbee. Is that all you got?" Sure, it could cut through metal with as much ease as his own Keyblade could, given the effort so at least he wasn't a pushover. Getting him to talk might be harder, though.
Vanitas took up a battle stance. "Think you got what it takes to play?"
