Duma didnt smile very often, but he smiled to himself as he heard the Hatter singing. He hadnt often eard those words before.

He tucked his wings in tight as he approached, tryig not to appear out of place, though as he was completely naked this didnt really work.

Instead as he approached te table he bowed to the Hatter and attempted to pick up a cup oF tea.

Hatter glanced over. Oh! It’s the birdman! Wait… He confirmed earlier that he was indeed an angel, and not a bird. Though he does suppose that angels often get that mistake. Hatter suddenly stood up straight with a large smile. Usually he would confirm that there was no room, but he was lonely and wanted company. Though the Hatter did NOT want to admit that. So instead, he’ll just welcome the guest.

“Duma!” Hatter put his teacup down, “Pleasure to have you join, I was beginning to think you might be late,” he said as he picked up the plate of scones, offering it. Completely forgetting that angels don’t need to eat.

While it is true that angels don't need to eat, there was certainly no rule that said they could not. While Duma himself had never eaten, he had seen others do so - Lucifer had even run his own bar for a little while.

Duma took a seat next to the hatter, shifting his wings awkwardly, and reached out and took a scone.

Taking a bite he was surprised to find that the scone tasted good as he chewed it slowly, hoping he was getting the mechanics of the whole situation right.

There was no need to be awkward around the Mad Hatter, he’s perfectly comfortable with most things… Some things… A few things. All right, so it’s understandable to feel awkward around him. However! He does know how to hold a conversation. Though he has yet to figure out how to hold one with spoons. Hatter already started to chatter with the angel. After all, someone had to do all the talking.

“Do you like it? I made it myself. I could have just left the blueberries by themselves. But how would I dip a blueberry in a strawberry tea? It just isn’t the same as a scone! So it was best if I made it together and-OH! Yes then I wanted to mix butter with yogurt, because I already thought the blueberries tasted good in yogurt. And I needed butter to go with scones, so why not have both? Yogurt and butter! The best combination in the world I say!” The Mad Hatter giggled at himself, he paused to let the angel add to the conversation, but he noticed the odd silence between them. This always seemed to occur when they’re in public together. The ( ... )

Duma made sure he had chewed the scone thouroughly before he tried to swallow it. It was a strange sort of sensation, but not unpleasant. He nodded, mostly in confirmation to himself that eating was in fact a worthwhile way to spend time.

As the Hatter posed his question, it took Duma some minutes to realise that there was in fact a question hidden among all the babble. He didn't have a pen on him, but he had carried his journal. so he opened it up and typed a message onto the screen.

MOST ANGELS SPEAK. I AM GUARDIAN OF SILENCE. THIS MEANS I DO NOT SPEAK. He passed it to the Hatter, an apologetic look on his face.
