Just as NiGHTS had thought; the city was still boring. Really, he had to get out and explore; from the sounds of it, more worlds had opened up - and honestly, it couldn't be as boring as the city. He floated to the gates, glancing around to see if anyone looked interesting before he decided to head out and explore. Who knew? The nightmaren always had his most interesting encounters on the outskirts of the city.
Sure enough, there was a blonde girl looking looking around, bewildered. "Hey, there!" NiGHTS called out cheerfully, floating a little above her. "You look lost. You're new here, right?"
Rikku looked back and forth for a second, bewildered, before glancing up above her with a hand raised to shade her eyes. What she saw - that is, who she saw - startled her a little. She'd seen some odd costumes before, but this was in the running for the cake. Besides which, of course, he was flying.
But still, he sounded nice, so she bounced on her feet and cast him a sheepish smile. "Is it that obvious?" she asked.
NiGHTS chuckled. "I've been here for awhile, and people who end up here usually have the sort of look you've got right now," he replied. "I'll bet I had it, too." He lowered himself until he floated a few inches off the ground and tilted his head to one side. "This place is pretty weird, at first, but then you get used to it." Eventually, he thought, and then it gets boring. Brushing his idle thoughts away, he grinned at Rikku. "So where are you from?"
People who end up here? So she wasn't the only one... but the floaty jester seemed pretty nonchalant about it. Maybe that was just how he was, but Rikku couldn't help wondering just how long "awhile" was.
"Bikanel Island," she replied, and then, on a hunch: "In Spira. But... I'm guessing we're a long way from there, huh?"
NiGHTS had never heard of Bikanel Island, but he had heard of Spira. "Hey, I've heard of that!" he replied. "It's not far from here at all! A friend of mine mentioned that place." He smiled. "Of course, it's not the real Spira, since we're... hm. I don't know how far we really are from our homes." Maybe he could find out, given the time - no, that sounded like too much responsibility, at least for the moment.
