The sights and smells of the island were almost lost on Kovu. Talking to Simba on the journals had been weird enough, but actually walking with him was just way too awkward. Simba even looked a lot younger here, maybe even younger than Kovu himself was.
It. Was. Weird.
The whole time, Kovu had hardly spoken a word. He'd lagged behind Kiara and her father the whole way, never taking his eyes off the ground.
Simba had kept a bit of information to himself when he had remembered that someone had told him about the human-cave-thing that led to other worlds. That person, or rather, that lion, had been Scar. He wasn't too worried about that though, as he was sure he, Kovu, and Kiara could take him down if they had to
( ... )
Lifting her nose, Kiara couldn't pick up any particularly hopeful scents either. The island definitely seemed to be rather small. She wasn't so sure now they would find anything here... but her father did seem a little.
Kovu did probably have the most experience, so Kiara glanced to Kovu as well.
Oh, great. Kovu had thought Simba would at least know something. "Wait...neither of you knows how to hunt?"
But it did take away some of the awkwardness he was feeling, and Kovu had to chuckle a little. "Then just watch the master." He sniffed the air, then looked in the direction of the water and sniffed again. That...was a weird smell. But it was definitely something that smelled like it could be food, and it was in the water.
He went running straight off into the water from the strange...wooden...thing, and made a huge splash. A few seconds later, he walked back onto the shore with a big, cocky grin, and a thing trying to flop around in his mouth.
Simba frowned. Of course he knew how to hunt! He just hadn't done it much at all for a pretty long time. It wasn't his fault Timon put him on an all-insect diet.
He rolled his eyes as he watched Kovu bound into the water and come back with a fish. "I thought we were going hunting. I don't think that really counts." Simba didn't mind the water. Actually, he was quite fond of swimming. He had just expected to find something to actually chase.
