Character(s): Iroh, Yzma Content: TWO ELDERLY PEOPLE IN THE SAME ROOM. HOLY CRAP. Setting: The Glass Bonsai [G5] Time: Later morning, Week 21 Warnings: Things could get...*wears sunglasses* old. [yeaaaaaaaaaaah!]
"Then you are certainly more than invited to my shop. I hope to have it open soon. I must meet the demands of the people before my promises remain as empty as my teacups," he pointed out to his new acquaintance. He made a habit of collecting customers as well as friends, and he had given so many free cups of tea away to them that he began wondering if he could actually turn enough profit to keep it running. He would have to find another customer/friend that could exchange cups of tea for financial advice for staying afloat in the Paixao economy.
"Iroh, m'am. A pleasure to meet you," he said while shaking her hand gently.
Yzma smirked as she shook his hand, “The pleasure is all mine Iroh.” She then shifted her hips in curiosity of the man. Usually, Yzma was accustomed to coffee, tea, and small meals as her dinner. So there is a possibility that this man may have a frequent customer, depending if she likes his taste. She was use to Kronk’s cooking, so she is trying her best to adjust to this different lifestyle.
Deciding to put the chemistry box set to the side for a bit, Yzma gestured in question, “So I assume you will have different types of selections of tea at your shop? I’m more into having black tea to keep myself awake when working on long projects of mine.” She said, now with a slight more interest in Iroh’s business.
Iroh's typically courteous attention was suddenly drawn away from the conversation and focused on the chemistry set that Yzma had been carrying with her from the moment of their curious encounter. There seemed to be some contraption within the box, made with glass and metal and care, that attracted Iroh's eye to it. His intellect wasn't vast, but he had traveled enough in his personal life to have some basic knowledge of scientific advances. Being carefully concerned with the chemistry of tea making, it was easy to see new technologies that would improve his own abilities.
He was also quick to break himself from distraction and answer Yzma's questions while subtly leading his answers back to his new fascination.
"Black teas are certainly fantastic if the midnight oil must be burned rather than our own fuel. Of course, the future promises many things, including more powerful tea. I wonder if there is something else I can invent, or at least find, to make that possible," he pondered out loud, hoping for Yzma to take the honest bait.
“Well there is always a chance of discovery and creating new things. I myself, seek to find what type of new potions I can make, for uh, scientific discover,” Yzma said smiling awkwardly while placing her hands behind her back in thought. She can’t let him know what type of potions she makes exactly. After all, she does have a right to her privacy and what she does with the potions is her own business.
Yzma then gestured, her hand waving absently, “Ah, but all discoveries does come with time and effort. Which is why I have worked many many years trying to create new things and experiments. Most of them have been pretty helpful in the past.” Although it was quite true that most of her potions have helped her a lot. One of them did help her become Empress after all, even if it was the wrong potion.
The very word of "potion" made Iroh nervous for too many reasons, mainly from his experiences of his brother's draconian treatment of rebels at many dinners that weren't exactly safe for them. "Potions? Like perfumes or poisons?" he asked with as little conviction as possible, though his eyes were already growing more narrow with suspicion.
