Character(s): Vyers and Timon Content: Complaining! And, uh, other stuff. Setting: Not far from the Vanaheim gate [F4 Area] Time: Mid-morning, Week 15 Warnings: None
Vyers attempted to keep a straight face the entire time, though it was beginning to become obvious that Timon's complaining was grating on his nerves. Once they were finally far enough away from the two, he set Timon down and rubbed his temples. "There! Must you be so loud? Ah... I feel a headache coming on." It never ceased to amaze him how something so small could make such a terrible racket.
"I'd rather not meddle in the affairs of young love. After all, it must be given time to bloom once more," he added. "...For now, in any case." He wouldn't mind helping things along a little bit in any case.
"But they should be allowed to have their reunion, should they not? And, either way, it doesn't seem as though he would have believed you." He took a moment to look Timon over, a thoughtful expression suddenly appearing on his face. "And why were you weaving such a tale together in the first place?"
Whatever made Vyers think the meekat actually cared about his needs remained a mystery, especially when the demon showed no interest in his needs. He needed to talk to Laharl and Flonne; he needed to trick them; to make things right again. It was the only way he knew how and if he couldn’t get that, Vyers shouldn’t have expected to get anything he needed either. It was only fair, wasn’t it? He scoffed at the demons request and began to march back in the direction they had come from
( ... )
He sighed heavily. "While that is a bit of an exaggeration, I've no doubt it will take some time before they are as they were before. What a shame!" Watching them made him feel young again. At least Timon was going to leave them be (and he himself had guessed correctly on the amount of distance needed).
Vyers paused, frown suddenly deepening as he realized Timon hadn't answered his question. Had that been on purpose, or had the meerkat merely gotten lost in his list of complaints? Knowing Timon, it was likely to be some sort of mixture of both. In any case, Vyers still wanted to hear the answer. Was this his way of attempting to make amends with Laharl. Hm. "Why were you attempting to create that story in the first place?" he asked again.
So he had noticed he hadn’t answered his question after all. How typical; playing it dumb and then, when it was least expected, bam! It was almost as though he had planned it that way. Like, maybe, Mid-Boss wasn’t quite as stupid as he seemed to be… Naaaah, he totally was. After all that inane parading around he had done? Definitely. Still, Timon did not feel any less comfortable with his question. He shifted awkwardly.
“Why wouldn’t you go along with it?” the meerkat asked in return. “Would it really have been that bad? You would have looked like a hero, which I gotta say, has more perks than disadvantages for you. Considering they think you’re a mid-boss and all, I was doing you a favour.” He shook his head and tsked. “That’s the last time I try and help you though. Obviously I’m wasting my time. You’re a lost cause.”
Vyers looked quite surprised with this revelation. So he was trying to help him? How interesting indeed... Though it seemed he had caught Timon a little off-guard with his question. Had Timon really thought he wouldn't notice. My, how people underestimated him... Though that was technically what he was going for now, so he supposed he shouldn't complain too much.
As much as it still bothered him.
"Tsk, tsk! That would ruin the ruin the element of surprise!" he replied enthusiastically. "As much as that... status grates on my nerves, it is all the better to keep my rival off-guard. ...Keeping my relationship to him other than being my rival quiet, of course."
