Just who did that woman think she was, anyway? Saying that he wasn't a man of science... He was every inch a scientist! A mad scientist, even! And what was she? What right did she have to criticize him just because he didn't want to go to a party? But if going to that party would shut her up, then fine. Any "high-powered beings," if there really were any around here, would just be a bonus.

And if all he had to do to show this woman up was attend the party? All the better. He thought he'd read something somewhere about what the party was supposed to be, but who had time to remember things like that? There were more important things to focus on!

Although, now that he had actually arrived at the party, Mao quickly realized that maybe he should have paid just a little more attention to what he had read.

For a moment he just stood there gaping. Then... "A... A pool party?!" he exclaimed, horrified. That woman had tricked him after all! No! Absolutely not ( ... )

"Oh no, not you!" a sultry feminine voice sighed. As soon as Mao turned around, Urd was obstructing his path. She seemed annoyed, one hand on her hip and head tilted arrogantly as she looked down her nose at him. She was playing her role quite well, she thought. "What are you doing here? If you think you're going to mess up my party, think again." She pouted slightly, eyes narrowed.

Mao took a step back, having not expected anyone to be there. But as soon as he realized who it was that was standing in his way, surprise gave way to frustration, especially with what she said next.

Again, for a moment, Mao was left speechless. For a moment.

"What the hell's wrong with you?! First you force me here, and now you're acting like I'm not supposed to be here?!" Just what was wrong with her, anyway?!

Although... messing up her party, huh? If only this were another setting.

"Excuse me? Forced you? Did I tie you up, drag your skinny little butt here and threaten your life if you didn't have some damn cookies and socialize?" She leaned down and poked him in the chest. "At most, I suggested you come. Once I discerned you were just a kid pretending to be a scientist, all interest was gone!" She straightened, flipping her hair off her shoulders.

"Just don't talk to anyone, you creepy little monster. You'll freak everyone out!" With a "hmph," she turned and walked past him resolutely. With her back to him, her lips curved into the barest of smiles.

Lenne had put together a small plate of snacks, just a bite or two of just about everything, and was looking for a place to sit when she noticed a very attractive brunette taking a seat in one of the recliners, and she appeared to have come by herself. She seemed familiar, but Lenne didn't think she'd met her yet. So, noticing another empty lounge chair beside her, she made her way over and stopped when she was standing between Tifa and the empty chair.

"Would you like some company? I'm Lenne, by the way, have we met before?" Awkward, but to the point. How quickly her people skills had rusted in this city.

"Oh! Hi!" Lenne greeted again. Of course, that's why she'd seemed familiar. She smiled kindly, looking down as she shuffled her feet a bit at the compliment. That was twice in one day too remarkably gorgeous women had mentioned her own attractiveness in some way. It was enough to make a girl's head swell a bit.

"Thank you very much," she finally managed. "It's nice to meet you in person, Tifa," she added, accepting the glass of juice with another thank you, and taking a seat on the chaise beside the other woman. She set her plate down between, and offered Tifa anything she might like off of it, she'd taken far too much for herself, anyway.

"Here trying to get to know your clientele?" she asked playfully, adding a wink to make sure Tifa realized she was joking. She hardly planned on making the woman talk business, this was a party, after all.

Hades here, he could be a good, cool guy sometimes, see? This was him behaving, and oh! A bit of messing with the minds of people, of course. Could not simply forget about that. And it was funny seeing people squirm, really. Waiting for him to set the whole shindig on aflame!

But they'd be waiting for a long time, because today this Lord of the Dead was taking a day off! ... At least that's how it would appear.

No, no, Hades would not take center stage for this event. Instead, he comes with his own morbid looking pool chair, a cocktail, and one could not forget the most hideous part of all - the pair of deep blue swim trunks, covered in lighter skull and crossbones.

It was good to be a god. He stretches out on his chair, surprisingly near to the pool, looking none-too-worried about it at all. He was a ray of sunshine. Really!

Obviously, Hades stuck out among the guests like a blinking neon "evil" sign. Urd made no pretense in enjoying his presence -- several yards away, she frowned deeply, eyes narrowed. So he showed up after all? And how dare he be so flashy? This was her party.

She made her way to him, forcing her face into smooth, cool indifference. "You actually came. Are you just that bored, Hades?" Face to face, she could see why so many were terrified of him -- he looked more like a monster than a god. The dark aura of power that radiated from him was enough to set her teeth on edge. She stood in his light, arms folded under her chest and head tilted in arrogant challenge.

This? Oh no, no, no. This was not flashy at all. This was mild; for him, anyway. A guy couldn't win, could he? Sheesh, goddesses.

He looks up, 'smiling' at her. "I said I would now, didn't I? Wouldn't want to go back on my word, spoil anyone's hopes and dreams, you see." He laughs, holds up his drink in a way to cheer, then decides to summon a second one in his free hand. It looked to be a martini of sorts. "Would you like one, dear? I promise it's not poisonous."

And if she chose to take it, it actually wasn't.

Sure, it was a friendly-seeming gesture on the outside. Well, except for the creepy god of death offering it to her. But she knew what it really was -- he was calling her out, challenging her and probably just trying to throw her off. If that was his game, she'd play.

She smirked, which was really the closest thing to a smile she could muster in his presence and took the glass from his hands. "Oh, thank you," Urd purred, batting her eyelashes. Without any hesitation, she the tipped martini back to her mouth and drained it in one go. She tossed the glass over her shoulder, which promptly burst into a puff of black smoke before disappearing.

Urd always was pretty impetuous.

Pool parties were, quite honestly, absolutely the farthest thing from anything Zexion enjoyed. Baring himself some thoroughly, even in only a physical sense, was distasteful in his mind and the physical contact that would no doubt come with it only served to intensify that feeling.

Consequently, it was the perfect place for a moment of subterfuge. No one would expect to see him there. No one would either, or at least not anyone who was recognizable as Zexion, the sixth member of Organization XIII. No, the man anyone passing by would see was a rather unremarkable (if somewhat pale) young man with ill-trimmed red hair.

Nothing out of the ordinary, just another lost soul trapped in a cage of a city.

The last few weeks had been rather interesting, and Hanekoma had been tempted to get more involved, but after much deliberation decided he needed to take a lighter hand in events in this city, in keeping with his responsibilities back home. Just because he'd probably been fired didn't mean that he shouldn't keep trying to do his best while he still could. Who knew, maybe he could make up for his own actions, not that he really expected to.

Still, just because he was avoiding getting directly involved didn't mean he couldn't enjoy some fun in the sun either. After all, when it came to meeting new people, there were few places better than a pool party.

Wearing sandals, swim trunks, sunglasses and a unbuttoned white shirt, the owner of Wild Cat Coffee made his way around to the pool, an easy smile on his face.

Hanekoma felt the girl's constrained yet powerful Vibe before he ever saw her, but he waited until she approached him before turning with a upbeat expression. Smiling at the pretty young woman, he could tell right away she had the Vibe of royalty.

"You're right about that sister," he agreed. "Nothing quite like some fun in the sun to get people to forget their troubles."
