Character(s): Jack and Timon Content: Jack unknowingly treats Timon to lunch. Setting: Train Station [K7] to Cafe Ersesat [L7] Time: Week 11, Unknown Warnings: None
In his long life Jack had seen and been through many strange things. However, none of these experiences were as weird as meeting up with a Disney cartoon. Part of him still couldn't quite believe it but on the other hand...there was a first time for everything. Even meeting Disney cartoons apparently.
Not to mention he desperately needed the distraction. It may have been six months ago but the memories of what had happened back home--no, not home. Earth-- were still fresh in his mind. This little meeting also served as a good excuse to avoid the Doctor. Jack wasn't prepared to meet him after what he had done. Not just yet. Maybe not ever but he knew that the Doctor was the one person he could not avoid forever.
But for now, he could try. Stepping off the train at the designated station, he stretched his stiff limbs out before stuffing his hands in his pockets - one hand on the gun he had been keeping there in case any of the 'Heartless' decided to show up - before he started walking. He had a meerkat to find.
Someone was coming. Timon shifted uncertainly at the sound of the approaching footsteps. He couldn’t quite remember what Jack looked like from the image he had seen on the journals but definitely recognized his voice. At his call the meerkat waved him over, though uncertain whether the man could actually see him or not. Humans never did have very good eyesight. They didn’t have very good hearing, sense of smell, or any signs of real intellect at all. However, he was hardly in the position to start blurting such things, especially when he had asked one to help him.
“Over here.” He called out. “Yeesh, what’d you stop at every landmark on the way here? I’ve been waiting forever. You know, I’m not getting any younger here.” The meerkat planted his paws on his hips but the frown he’d been wearing twisted itself into a grin when Jack drew near. “Seriously, Captain, arriving fashionably late doesn’t work with these sorts of things. Trust me, I know.”
Indeed Jack hadn't caught the waving at first but the call certainly got his attention and he immediately sauntered over to where Timon was. On top of a statue. There was the hint of a small grin tugging at the corner of his lips. He couldn't help it, this entire meeting was surreal and amusing. Somewhere in the back of his mind he couldn't help but think about how funny it would have been if his entire Torchwood team had been here. But that was in the past, far behind him.
"Really now? And here I was hoping I was finally getting with the times," he retorted easily, managing to somewhat slip back into that old persona of cheerful good ol' Captain Jack. It was a whole lot easier to do here than back on Earth at least. He dropped it soon though, in favour of giving Timon an apologetic look. "Sorry for the wait, I was in Niflheim." Which was a considerable distance away and really, it wasn't like he had the power to make trains run faster.
“Ah, Hakuna Matata.” He said with a casual wave. “It really wasn’t that long. Besides, I’m not the fastest when it comes getting around the city either. If Pumbaa were still here it wouldn’t be a problem but without him, geez, my feet are killin’ me! To think I’ve been reduced to this. All this walking lately is wearing me out.” Timon furrowed his brows while he rubbed his aching feet. Ridding on the warthogs back really had been a privilege he had taken for granted. Never had be been forced to travel such large distance by foot, never mind alone. Before Paixao, from they day they had met, he had always been with his friend at his side. The separation had been hard but nearly as difficult as after the warthog had appeared in the city. He pushed the thought way.
“Not that you’d know anything about that.” He added saucily. “What, with those long legs of yours getting around should be no trouble at all.”
sorry for the wait, got a little sick this weekendguywhocantdieSeptember 14 2009, 06:21:48 UTC
Now that got a smile out of Jack, one he would probably regret and feel guilty for later but right now there really was no helping it. "Long legs aren’t everything either," he commented with a casual shrug. Still, he got the point of all the complaining and decided to humor the meerkat, if only because he understood the loss and didn’t mind.
"And you could’ve just asked, you know," he said as he raised his arm, offering it to Timon to climb on.
