Celes wasn't the only one to be slightly annoyed at the Heartless swarming the city. Reno had also decided that it was high time to head back outside. Who cared that the darkness had spawned little nasties. He'd been killing bigger fry before he ever became a Turk.
Comparatively, these ones were tame. Annoying, but that was about it. And with them being too low to the ground most of them time his usual tactic of hitting them with his zapstick wasn't exactly the best. So it was on to plan B. After all, no Turk had just one sort of weapon. It was part of the training and he could at least rely on that if nothing else.
Besides, there was a certain enjoyment to be found in lighting them up with Thunder spells.
The sudden explosion of thunder and fire spells made the ex-general leap back and swing around, though in the resulting darkness it was difficult to make out who was around. Hoping she'd just gained allies instead of enemies, she returned to hacking out the heartless until a voice caught her attention.
"Perhaps that was my intention," she answered evenly, glancing around for the source of the voice as she made notes about it as well. "I could say the same to you."
As for the source of the thunder spells, she wasn't going to address it until it addressed her. Whether that was by voice or attack she didn't know, but her guard was up anyway and she muttered, "Runic," under her breath as she took another swing, hoping the ability would take hold.
"Staying inside gets borin' after a while, right? 'Specially with it bein' th' same all the time."
Thus the comparatively simple solution of coming out to zap Heartless to death. Hell, he hadn't even really had any plans for where he was going, apart from 'outside'. But given what he'd seen so far, he'd picked the right direction. People to talk to and explosions. A good place to start, even if he did have to keep an eye out for attacking shadows.
Like the batch creeping up from one side, dealt with in the same way as the others - a bright flash of lightning.

"Oh~ohohohoho! Whoever said that is quite right. Why stay inside when there's a battle to fight?" came a reply, once more from above, but from a lower rooftop where she'd be more visible to the humes. Which she became as the glow of spell casting once more surrounded the small tarutaru.
Lightning seemed rather popular now, so Shantotto cast a powerful thundaga spell amidst another group of heartless, strikes of lightning hitting all in the group and lighting up the area for a moment, before darkness once more took over.
