Waiting did not bother Timon as it once had in the past. The time seemed to fly considering how long he’d sat outside the gate patiently for Knuckles arrival. Maybe it was the fact he had nothing to bother him. He’d spent so much time dwelling on things he needed to accomplish or in fear that the Organization would see and grab him. It had completely put a stake through his Hakuna Matata lifestyle. Paixao had changed him. Organization Thirteen, however, had fixed him. Well, sort of. He hadn’t considered it anything other than a favour until recently, but even then he hadn’t thought much of it.

He scratched his head, casually leaning against a wall. He had never met Knuckles before. They had only spoken a few times, he was sure, yet felt the need to help him out. It wasn’t as though he had anything else to do at the moment. Besides, he could have used a little fresh air.

Knuckles approached the meerkat as soon as he saw him, nodding. "You're Timon, right?" he asked, looking him over. Hm. He wasn't very big. But then again, neither was Charmy the Bee, and he was not only part of the Chaotix, but strong in his own right. "Thanks for meeting me here." It wasn't something he was accustomed to saying, but what the heck. It couldn't hurt, right?

"We should go. There's some trouble in the city and I'm planning on taking care of it."

“Right.” He replied and pushed himself off the wall. Knuckles wasn’t exactly what he had expected, being a… Whatever he was. Timon was not sure, he’d certainly had never seen any animal like him before, especially with as snazzy looking shoes. He did not think much of it though. After looking the Echidna over he nodded and began to approach the two great giants. “Yeah, no problem. I still don’t see what the big rush is to get back to the city, but whatever.”

The meerkat frowned, pausing at the thorns and folded his arms across his chest. For a moment nothing happened, then, before him, a dark portal suddenly opened. Two slender figured Nobody Dusks crawled out and quickly approached. However, they did not attack. They stood their ground, twitching in anticipation as they awaited further orders. Timon moved toward the portal, turning partially to face Knuckles, a blasé look upon his face before he spoke.

“Follow me.”

More thorns. Oh, well, it wasn't as if the echidna hadn't been expecting that to begin with. Still, he frowned at them, wondering just what was going on inside the city for this to happen. He looked at the meerkat as he spoke. "I'm going to find out what's going on, that's the rush," he half-growled, but forced himself to keep his temper in check, at least for the moment. He was already injured because of Kefka; he wasn't about to lose his temper on top of it.

Okay, so maybe he would, but that would come later. Knuckles had to hold back a shiver at the sight of the strange, grey beings that half-slithered away from the darkness. Ghosts? Never mind that. He steeled himself and followed Timon, walking towards the portal.

This had better be worth it.

Unbothered by the Nobodies, the meerkat barely so much as acknowledged them when he passed them, walking into the darkness without fear. He quickly disappeared through the portal. The two Dusk’s previously to emerge through the portal then turned their glance to Knuckles expectantly. They crept in closer, closing him in on him. If he did not follow Timon, they would force him.
