Rue took a seat in one of the chairs inside of the Wild Kat Coffee shop and rested her head on her arms. She'd been combing the area ever since Duck hadn't shown up at Cafe Eresat in Joutenheim. After her encounter with "the Beast" and the strange swordsman, Rue had continued wandering the area until she had stumbled upon this place.

Looking for something to eat -or at least keep her energy up- she stopped by the coffee shop. Her eyes scanned the menu. She couldn't even determine what the menu was saying, nevermind deciding what to order.

It had been awhile since Naja graced the coffee shop. Too much compiling information and figuring out to do with the things Sara told her, right before the woman slipped away into the crowd of partying gypsies and was gone. Just... gone. No Organization grabbing her this time just.... Vanished. It had been rather disconcerting for some time, sure. Naja was now down the only Sentinel she officially had ownership too, after all. That was a problem.

Still, she had some sway over Reno. Perhaps he had friends of some use. She would make them hers, eventually. These things took time.

"You know, you should rrreally organize for delivery," was her comment as she entered and slid into a seat. "Then Paixao could enjoy your delicious coffee all the time without having to take a brreak in their work to swing by..."

Turning, Hanekoma grinned as he spotted one of his favorite customers enter the shop.

Giving Naja a friendly wave he said, "You know, that's not a bad idea at all. Unfortunately I currently lack the services of a reliable delivery service, but if you could put me in touch with one, I'd be eternally grateful."

Leaning over the counter he asked, "So, what can I get you this fine day?"

Naja grins leans across the counter casually. "I'll be sure to look into it for you," which was really something just to add to her list of general business. There had to be something. If Sara was still around... damn. "Although I doubt I could sway the gypsies into helping."

She wondered if they even liked coffee.

"The usual would be a delight."

"Ah well, one never knows until one tries," Hanekoma answered with an easy shrug.

"You got it boss," he replied, already going through the motions of assembling the coffee with a causal ease that suggested he'd been making that particular blend for years.

Setting it down in front of her, he said, "There you go. So, how's your week been?"

It wasn't the promise of a free portrait that had caught Susan's attention. She could, quite honestly, care less about what was a simple painting. What did catch her attention was the fact there was something undeniably odd about the place. Or... something inside the place anyway.

And that in turn was just interesting enough to get her to head inside the shop. After all, she still had questions about the city that would need to be answered before anything could be done about the situation.

Hanekoma felt Susan before he saw her. While many here in Paixao had vibes that were out of tune with the vibe of this place, hers was an exceptionally unique one.

Her vibe was predominantly human, though the vibe of a human from a world he had never visited before. Still, there was an faint undercurrent to her, a somber tune that he'd come to associate with death. Not the death that people feared, an evil dark scary fate come to snatch them from the safety of their lives, but rather the death that was simply a part of the cycle of life, which all living creatures had to experience to move on to the next step in their journey.

Turning, Hanekoma smiled at the woman and said, "Well hello there boss, what can I get for you?"

Oh. So that was the oddity she'd noticed. She couldn't quite put her figure on what he was, but he certainly wasn't human. Anything else, she couldn't put her finger on, but human wasn't one of the defining characteristics here. She wasn't going to ask, though. It would have been rude, not to mention possibly life-threatening.

Instead, she glanced at the list of things.

And then blinked and gave it a proper look. Apparently the oddities didn't stop with man behind the counter.

"I'm supposed to order the one on top," she commented, keeping her voice carefully neutral - more a sort of 'I see what you did there' then anything else.

Smiling innocently, Hanekoma nodded and began whipping together the coffee with casual ease.

"So, haven't seen you around before boss, what brings you my way?"

Karrin wasn't sure about this 'free portrait' business but she could smell a good cup of coffee when she was near one. She pushed open the door and looked around at the small establishment, it looked like one of those popular cafes that college students went to for coffee. It wasn't her usual place...then again she usually only had time to snatch up some coffee from a gas station or at the precinct itself.

"Smells good, you've got straight black right? I'm not usually one for all the fancy mixes they have these days," Karrin said after approaching the counter.

Grinning Hanekoma smiled up at the short blond woman who entered, her vibe one that demanded authority and promised protection.

"Of course boss," he replied in a easy tone, already moving to make the coffee, "I take it you're the sort that needs her coffee fast and strong?"

The guy was really laid back, almost enough to put Karrin herself at ease...but she knew better than that. Still, even she couldn't help but smirk slightly at his assessment, "You've got it." Karrin wouldn't admit she liked to hear him call her boss.

She glanced over her shoulder, "So, who's giving those portraits?" She wasn't sure why...but it stuck out to her.

"Ah, that would be me," Hanekoma replied as he expertly made the coffee and slid it to her, black as night and hot as hell.

"I'm a bit of a dabbler in the arts as a hobby."
