Character(s): Zexion and Soma Content: Zexion's testing out a new persona. Setting: Near Central Station Time: Week one, late afternoon/early evening Warnings: None yet.
Soma was, to put it mildly, intrigued. The city had changed quite a bit in his absence, not least of which was its smaller size and the lack of several familiar landmarks.
The citizens, however, were still their old blond-haired, blue-eyed selves. This, as usual, made it easy to spot outsiders - like the redhead over there. Soma didn't recognize him - but then, he didn't know most of the people in the city. He'd been watching this particular one for a while now, and was just about convinced that the guy was waiting for someone - anyone - to come and talk to him. Or maybe he was just waiting for a train. Either way, having someone to talk to would beat the hell out of wandering around aimlessly, yes?
That thought in mind, Soma crossed the cobblestone street. "Hi," he offered in greeting. Subtle and suave, yep. That was Soma.
If asked, Zexion would be quick to assure anyone who asked that he had been simply waiting for the train. And if one had passed him by then it was simple enough to simply answer that he'd been waiting for the one going the other way. It would have been a lie at best, but there was no way that a mere observer would have been able to notice that.
And in any case, it wasn't going to be a problem here, as he offered the other man a polite nod in return. "Hey."
Now for the fun part. Remembering that this persona's speech patterns were not so identical to his own as Ian's were.
"I don't suppose you could tell me what's happened in the city over the past few months?" he asked, coming to a halt a respectful distance away. Old habit had one hand fisted on his hip, near the hilt of his sword. An unconscious move, ingrained by a great deal of experience.
Now that he was closer, Soma had a better vantage point from which to evaluate this new person. He was short - shorter even than Mina, whose height was sometimes a joke between the two - and pale enough to put him in mind of certain vampires he'd known. Arikado came to mind. He wondered, not for the first time, how his old friend was doing these days; he hadn't seen the man during his return to the 'real' world.
"A lot of things," Zexion answered simply, even as he noticed the unconscious movement the other man made. No doubt the other could hold his own in a fight, if he had to. "Most recently, the city hall seems to have been taken over by someone who put up a wall of thorns."
There was a brief pause after that, almost as if he was considering what to say next or perhaps how to phrase it. "There was also a partial deterioration of the city, and at least one giant monster."
The fact that people had been seeing Heartless was, for the time being, conveniently omitted.
"Yeah, I saw that. Anyone managed to get through or find out just exactly what the hell they want?" Blunt and to the point. "Giant monsters do tend to cause deterioration. It's just one of those things they do, apparently," he allowed, shrugging. "And the Organization? What have they been up to, if they're not behind the current mess?"
