As it turned out, Zetsu was the one who came first. He had surfaced a short distance off, and walked the rest of the way; no sense in arousing suspicion, after all. He'd shed his cloak for the trip, and even his hitai-ate, though he felt a little naked without them--for a long time now, he had almost always covered himself as well as his physiology allowed. Now though, there was nothing from the waist up. Nothing to cover his chest, or the leaves that grew from his arms and shoulders. It was an uncomfortably exposed position, in his mind, but he did his best to ignore it, and walked calmly into the café.

He spied the goggles almost immediately--orange wasn't a very common color around here, as far as he could tell. The messy black hair was next, and the Uchiha fan.... Definitely who he'd come to meet. So he went to join him, nodding and smiling a little. "Good to see you, Obito-kun. Have you been waiting long?"

Obito was startled and intrigued by the leaves that seemed to be growing directly out of the Grass-nin's body. Also interesting was the perfectly divided colors of his left and right side. "Hi!" he said, grinning widely in greeting. "Nah, I only got here a little while ago and I just ordered a sundae. We could get the waiter back here if you want something." He was practically bouncing in his seat and obviously did not need more sugar.

"Hey, hey, Zetsusan! Are these things a Kekkei Genkai?" Obito asked, waving his hands around his own head to indicate the large leaves framing Zetsu's.

It was rather like dealing with Tobi's enthusiasm, Zetsu thought, and that was something comfortably familiar in and of itself. It was enough to make the behavior lean more towards endearing than downright annoying. "Not at the moment." Zetsu shook his head, sitting down. Obito certainly didn't look like he needed any more sugar.... Then again, they had no connection to each other beyond this brief acquaintance. Who was he to tell the boy what he could or couldn't eat?

His leaves twitched at the mention, vague irritation--he seldom did like it when people commented on them--softened by familiarity and the innocent nature of the question. "Not quite, but close enough. Consider them a clan secret."

"Oh, cool!" Obito said with a grin. A clan secret, rather than a Kekkei Genkai? Like something more along the lines of Aburame's connection with the bugs. Only less creepy.

"So, so you said that the war was over in your time, so who won, huh?" Obito asked curiously. "If Grass is still okay, then we must have beat Rock, right?!" He bounced a little in excitement and then looked up when the waitress slid a sundae in front of him. "Thanks, Oneechan!" he said before shoving a spoonful of icecream into his mouth.

"Hey, Zetsusan, you said that the future was, um, different than I was expecting or something...?" Obito said, his brow furrowing a bit. "... Does something bad happen to Leaf?"

Less creepy? That.... well, that was a sentiment not often shared by those who looked at him. Then again, if he'd heard the comment, he would have supposed it was a fair thing to say when being compared to the Aburame clan. He nodded as he settled more comfortably into his seat, biting back a comment on the ice cream; the sugar rush would just have to be dealt with as it came up. "It is over--Leaf did win." That, at least, he could offer simply and without needing too much elaboration. It was the rest that was awkward to say.... Still though, he had never been known to his colleagues as an overly emotional type; however (and however strongly) he felt about something, it wasn't too difficult to report with detachment.

No, his end of things wasn't difficult--the devil of it was trying to anticipate Obito's reaction to this news and figure out how to present it appropriately. "Leaf wasn't too badly hurt during the war; most of the battles stayed out of Fire entirely." No, the front lines had been largely in Grass and Rock, and they had ( ... )
