Recognizing a rhetorical question, Vexen instead answered Zexion's second inquiry. "He stated these creatures were able to manipulate electricity and wind, but the rest was left vague...intentionally so, I believe. So yes, testing is indeed in order." There was smugness, perhaps a bit of eagerness, in his voice. He could put up with the rest of the city and the rest of the Organization if only he were allowed his experiments, and the idea of performing experiments on the djinn was appealing.

Though it wasn't being very cooperative at the moment. He curled a lip in frustration as he made another grab for the djinn, fully intending to freeze it to the table if it caused any more trouble. It would throw another variable into his procedure, certainly, but it wouldn't skew chemical reactions like an internal sedative would. Plus, it was a rather simple thing to do.

"I expect he wouldn't want the wrong sort of people to take an interest in them since he was interested in their eventual return." Which hadn't helped in the long run - while they might eventually return the djinn, they were most likely not the sort of person the djinn's owner had expected to find it.

But no matter. There were other things to attend to. Most importantly, the fact that the thing didn't want to stay in one place. Maybe it just didn't like Vexen?

"Here, let me try."

The Djinn nimbly hopped over Vexen's grabby hands and remained there, its too-small "wings" fluttering slowly enough that it was probably clear they weren't what kept it aloft. And now, having presented itself with the option of being in the air, it took full advantage of this and zipped off the lab table altogether, landing on the next workstation over (and displacing a few papers left there in the process, though it didn't notice this). There was so much shiny stuff in here to poke around at!

"I'm certain he was," Vexen replied lightly, neither committing to nor denying the prospect of an eventual return. They'd simply have to see how experiments turned out.

Though they wouldn't even begin if he couldn't get his subject to sit still. His lip curled in frustration as the Djinn landed on his desk, scattering his carefully arranged notes. He couldn't freeze the thing over there - that would only make the mess worse!

He turned a rather irate face to Zexion, ready to take him up on his offer. "Fine."

Of course they would. No use returning it if the experiments damaged it beyond repair after all.

But at the moment, the point was rather moot, considering the creature was just a bit too active for much to have really gotten under way just yet. And he hadn't missed the fact that Vexen was already getting a bit annoyed at the fact that it hadn't been properly quiet. Of course, he wasn't sure that he'd have any better luck than Vexen already had, but... it was worth a try at least, as he moved quietly over to where the djinn was currently exploring, before moving to gently grab it around what was presumably its waist - or nearest approximation thereof.

With any luck it wouldn't complain too horribly to that, provided that he actually managed to catch hold of it in the first place.
