"I might be. At least make sure she's behaving. Wouldn't want her to fall in with the wrong crowd, would we?"

She'd come close to stepping too far out of line already. She was his witch to use. She needed to remember that.

"It would be such a tragedy," Larxene said, giggling. "She might be deluded into thinking she was worth something."

And they couldn't have that.

A wicked smirk slid onto Marluxia's face. "And then what would we do?" Of course, that question didn't even need to be answered.

Her grin widened into a smirk. "Well, we'd have to beat some sense into her, wouldn't we?"

"Of course you would." That was Larxene's job, not his. He was her protector. What would the poor little girl do without him there to keep her safe? He just had to make sure she knew what happened when he wasn't there to keep her safe. The world outside was just so cruel and terrible, and they'd never accept people like them. She couldn't be so trusting.

She laughed. "And I'm sure you'll be there to show her the error of her ways. You're always so kindhearted, after all."

Their witch was a pawn, nothing more. She would move as they wished her to or she would not move at all.

"There's no sense keeping her from the truth," Marluxia stated. "It's everyone else who seeks to tear the poor girl down through lies. It's all for her own good."

He chuckled. "Someone has to be there to keep the monsters at bay."

"How sweet~" she giggled. "She really needs to be more grateful."

She dropped to a more serious tone--just a touch more, anyway. "Anything else we should discuss~?"
