Haku had spent a good part of his morning wandering around the city, well, heading in this direction anyway. With his memories finally back, the effeminate shinobi was mulling things over, trying to figure out what had happened to cause him to lose his memories, and why. It was an ardurous task, and one that Haku was already coming to some difficulty to complete. He knew he was going to have to stop at a library at some point. Where else was he going to find the information that he needed? Medic-nin weren't trained to handle cases of amnesia ( ... )

The way they'd landed was enough to earn Deidara's attention. Then he saw the hitai-ate. Another shinobi--Deidara was reacting before he knew entirely what he was facing, hands moving to his clay pouches, the journal tucked away. Then he took a look at the ninja who had dropped in. A kunoichi, apparently, and one who looked younger than he was. That didn't mean she wasn't a threat, however.

Just his luck, to be only minutes into an entirely different world and come across someone who might recognize him, or at least his outfit. His hands rested on clay, though, so he wasn't terribly worried. The choice, then, became whether to call out to this girl or simply wait and see what she would do.

Deidara never was one to wait for long. He put on his usual grin. "Guess I'm not the only one here from my world, un."

Haku looked at Deidara as he spoke, taking in other shinobi's appearance. He didn't miss the hand moving for the pouch and slipped his own hand up his sleeve to take hold of some senbon, just in case. It took a moment for the effeminate shinobi to discern the symbol on Deidara's hitai-ate, partially hidden as it was by the other's blonde hair. The Village Hidden in the Stone, huh? And by the looks of that crack, this was a nuke-nin, much the same as he. But the headband was truly the only thing he recognized.

"It's a safe enough assumption to make," Haku replied. He was watching Deidara for any sign of hostility, and wishing, not for the first time, that he still had his mask. "There are a lot of people here, and many who come and go without rhyme or reason. I couldn't tell you how many of us there are here. You're the first I've met in person."

It was true. He had spoken with other shinobi over the journals, mostly Zetsu. As such, Haku had no real idea of how many ninja were actually in the city.

If this kunoichi had recognized him as Akatsuki, she did a very good job of hiding it. Still, Deidara wasn't going to relax yet. He wasn't looking for a fight right now, having just arrived in a city he didn't have any idea as to the layout of. His hands remained close to his clay, but he didn't yet move to attack. He just kept up his smirk.

"I just got here," he said. "Can't say I know much about who's here yet, un. Who are you, anyway?"

He had spoken to Itachi through the journals... But that had just created a thousand more questions. Zetsu-san was somewhere, apparently, but that hardly helped him.

Like Deidara, Haku wasn't all that ready to relax. Here was another shinobi, and while Haku was not familiar with this person, it didn't limit the risk of a potential attack. Such uncertainty created potential enemies out of even the most friendly of people. The effeminate shinobi held the senbon tight, more than ready to flick them out at a moment's notice. He didn't want to fight, but that didn't mean he wouldn't if he was pressed.

"I've been here for a while," Haku noted. "Still don't know who's here." Other than that Zabuza hadn't show up yet, to his knowledge. He pondered whether or not it was quite wise to divulge his name, but with who he had already told, it wouldn't seem to make a difference.

"My name is Haku. And you are?" It was only fair that Haku get Deidara's name in return.

He considered the name. It wasn't one Deidara recognized offhand, but the ex-Iwa nin had never been particularly good with names. One mouth on the palm of his hand took a bite of clay and began chewing--not to form an explosive, but to, if needed, create a flying clay bird. It would put him at a disadvantage if he couldn't get distance between them, just in case. He had never been good with taijutsu.

"Deidara," he said as casually as he could manage--the kunoichi's hitai-ate was from Kirigakure; had it been from Iwagakure he would have lied, but then again, he would have been recognized at this point. "Been here for a while and still on your own, un?" His tone was neutral--making conversation was preferable right now.

Haku considered the name he had been given. It was unfamiliar, but that wasn't so surprising. He didn't recognize the coat the shinobi wore, and had never really interacted with many ninja beyond the scope of Kirigakure. Sure, there was Naruto and the rest of the team from Konoha, but that was about it.

"I suppose you could say that," Haku agreed. "I've met many different people since I arrived here." He shrugged. "I haven't really kept up on who comes and who goes, though. At least, not beyond the people who I met before."

Haku looked thoughtful for a moment. "I'm quite familiar with the layout of the city, considering how long I've been here. I've traversed it many times, with different people, and for different purposes." Any altercation between them would have to be started by Deidara. Haku wasn't one for starting fights.

If there was going to be a fight, one would have started by now. At least, Deidara thought so. And he didn't think his name had been recognized. No reason not to relax a bit--his hands fell to his sides, and while his righthand mouth still gnawed on clay, he made it clear he was holding nothing without revealing his palms.

"Like I said, I just got here," he said, and softened his smirk into something of a smile. "I was going to scout the area anyway, but I wouldn't object to company, un."

What could he say? Deidara never did like spending too much time on his own (it made him talk to his sculptures even as he blew them up), and he had grown accustomed to having a partner. In an unknown place with unknown dangers, any ally was a good one, especially someone who knew the area. There must be a map in all the papers he'd been given, but he hadn't yet checked.

His stomach grumbled, and he grinned wider. "Wouldn't object to food, either, un."

The motion did not go unnoticed by Haku. And the gesture was reciprocated as he tucked the senbon back into their place in his sleeve and drew his hand back out. It wasn't like he was unarmed without them. It only took a few hand seals to complete a jutsu, after all.

Haku offered a smile in return. It seemed to him like the former Iwa-nin had encountered the right person upon his arrival. "I could show you around." He couldn't help the snicker upon hearing Deidara's stomach grumble. No, food wouldn't go amiss, either. "And I know where we can find food, too."

No, Haku wouldn't mind having company for a while. It would be a nice change of pace to have someone who was familiar with the shinobi lifestyle, and the place he was from.
