The situation of the Jedi Master was not all that different from that of the young man. He was also in what amounted to armor, an escape pod - when had he launched a pod? Where was his ship, and what was this planet? The computer - the pod did have one - was completely offline, and it didn't take him long after climbing out to figure out why. The pod was completely slagged ( ... )

After haven taken a few steps Al already drew to a halt. There was an odd sensation in the back of his head, it almost felt like...remembering something that you've forgotten a long time ago. He closed his eyes to let it sink in for a moment. It was then he realized he actually was remembering forgotten, or rather stolen, memories. Slowly but surely the memories of the journey he had made with his brother in Amestris were returning and it started happening as soon as he had set foot into this city. It had just taken a moment for him to realize it ( ... )

Ikrit smiled kindly at the young man, but shook his head. "No. Kushiban. I've never met a chimera."

It was a bit ludicrous, actually, that the kid thought he might be a chimera. They were immense creatures, after all, and most distinctly not akin to the Kushiban. Then again, the word had other definitions, particularly among Sith alchemists...

But this kid was no Sith. He was touched by the Force, moreso than some, but he wasn't immersed in it the way the Jedi and the Sith were. There was a good chance he didn't even know it.

The journal, while an unfamiliar design, was nothing new to Ikrit. The technology where he was from was undoubtedly more advanced, after all. "Have you any idea where we are?"

"I-it spoke!" Came the surprised squeal for Alphonse hadn't heard it talk to the gatekeeper before. If it spoke it should be a chimera, shouldn't it!? Then again it had called itself 'Kushiban'. Not that Al knew what that was but chimeras usually knew that they were chimeras, the talking ones at least. Perhaps Kushiban was some sort of species that lived here? Alphonse assumed it possible since he was on what seemed to be an entirely different world.

Besides it didn't seem all that harmful at all, it was even smiling at him! His brother would probably scold him because he was being too trusting again if he were there but Alphonse had already decided it meant no harm. Thus he walked over to it and knelt down in front of the fluff ball. "Ah, my apologies! The chimeras back...home..are sorta like you. I've never heard of a Kushiban before though."

Alphonse contemplated the question and glanced at the brochure for a moment. He didn't know where this place exactly was but... "All I know is that this place is called Paixao," he smiled

Ikrit took a half-hop, half-step toward the boy. "I see. Well, I can assure you that I am no chimera. I'm not even sure which planet they're usually from, to be honest." Looking up (he was still shorter, even with the boy kneeling), he tilted his head. "Paixao. Interesting name for a city, I must say..."

A couple centuries worth of traveling the galaxy had introduced him to some strange languages, and that sounded like a word from one of them. He couldn't quite place it, though, so he shrugged it off. He would contemplate it later.

"At any rate, it would seem we are both new here. Would you mind if I travel with you?" he asked, using his tail as a prop to sit back to better see the lad's face.

Alphonse reached out and, only hesitating for a split-second, petted the creature gently on the head. It was just an urge he couldn't resist and he hoped the creature wouldn't take offense to it. "I think it means passion." That was what Al remembered from the quick skim through the brochure anyway. He wasn't able to identify what language it was. Something eastern, perhaps.

Al bit back a squeal of delight at the Kushiban's suggestion of traveling together and nodded eagerly instead. However, the childish delight was still written all over his face. "Not at all! I'm looking for my brother so I'll probably be going all over the place. It'd be nice to travel with someone! Oh and I'm Alphonse, Alphonse Elric. You can call me Al if you like. "

Ikrit did not take offense to the petting, but he didn't encourage it either. He was used to it; if the kid insisted on it, he would allow it.

"My name is Ikrit, by the way," he added as an afterthought that was almost sublimated by a combination purr and coo that, to be quite honest, was simply adorable. "What's yours?"

He was having a hard time remembering his dignity, considering the petting, but there was no harm being done after all. He'd played the part of a pet before. He could live with it for a while again...

Besides. The boy reminded him of Anakin.

After a moment more of petting and a quick scratch behind the ear Alphonse let his arm fall back to his side. The creature showed neither like nor dislike to the petting so Al was unsure of what to do.

It was always hard to try and think of a way to act towards creatures capable of human speech. Talking Chimeras usually tended to keep human characteristics but this Kushiban was entirely different. It was obviously on the same level of human intelligence if not higher. To treat it like a human or animal? Because of it's appearance Al tended to sway to the second.

"Pleasure to meet you, Ikrit! I'm Alphonse Elric or Al for short," he repeated. If Al had any doubts about taking Ikrit along before they would have been totally erased by now. The adorable sound Ikrit made would have won him over if he his appearance hadn't. "What place did you come from?"

"The pleasure is mine, Alphonse." Ikrit gave his familiar bunny smile and, over the next few minutes, told him a very short version of his origins. He was from the planet Kushibah, a member of a peace loving race of farmers and weavers. He elected to leave out the parts about the Force, the Jedi, and anything to do with the Sith, but the story was no less amazing for that.

He wound up with the part about his starship falling into a wormhole, then kind of shrugged; beyond that, he didn't know anything more than Al. "That's how I wound up here, I guess, though I have no idea what became of my ship."

Alphonse listened intently to the story the small Jedi master had to tell, deeply intrigued by a world so very different from his own. It wasn't every day you met someone from a different world after all. In return he told Ikrit of his own origins. It was only Equivalent Exchange after all. He told him of Amestris, his small peaceful hometown of Resembool and the alchemy that was so common back home. He didn't tell much of his own story though mainly because he was still far from remembering it all and losing your body wasn't something one would happily talk about it ( ... )
