Death, being Death, was of course quite skilled at killing things. Time, however, was not on that list. He had spent hours on the journals last night, talking with people he'd never seen before and would much like to meet, including one of the hooded figures - he was nearly certain this particular one had been at the ambush yesterday afternoon. It was nearly impossible to get a straight answer out of him over the journals, however, so Death let him be - for now - and instead went to the public boards, asking for the person he'd been told to speak with for the information he wanted. So far, this Timon person had not yet responded ( ... )

Several years of Sheik's already short life had to have been lost in the moment of absolute fear he felt when someone quite unexpectedly addressed him. He yelped, jumped, all very un-Sheikah-like, and finally spied the person (person?) who had addressed him. It looked more like a redead or any of the denizens of the Shadow Temple, and yet it was talking to him. Talking. To him. Just the mere fact that it was talking and not attacking took Sheik a moment to process. It took another few to come around to the words that had been spoken ( ... )

Sheik had been absolutely correct in his assessment: Death would not fall for a lie. While he did not doubt that the blond's answer was correct, Death knew it couldn't be the whole story: it had taken the blond much too long to come up with it, and it didn't explain anything.

I KNOW MANY PEOPLE WHO ARE GIFTED, Death replied simply, YET THEY HAVE ONLY ONE NAME. WHY IS IT YOU HAVE TWO? He debated simply ordering the blond to tell him the truth - no living creature could disobey his voice, after all - but compelling somebody to do something against their will was not a good way to build trust, and Death wanted a traveling companion in this new world more than he wanted answers.

The reply to Sheik's question was simple. I AM DEATH.

Death. All of the remaining color in Sheik's face was gone and probably not coming back any time soon. Thankfully the wrappings about his face made it quite impossible to tell. Well... perhaps Death could tell. Sheik wasn't actually going to consider that. He was still reeling, mentally, because he was standing here talking to Death. Death. Oh by the goddesses.

And Death wasn't buying the load of crap that Sheik was trying to feed him, either, it seemed. He was still determined not to reveal it all, but... well... maybe a half-truth? A hedging? Something that didn't scream 'I am Princess Zelda of the Royal Family of Hyrule, Crowned Princess!'. Sheik's mental train paused. Not princess... queen. That was another thought that wasn't going to settle well, so he charged past it.

"I am... two people." he said. In a way, that was true. Sheik and Zelda were not the same person. Sheik... well Sheik wasn't a person anymore. He'd died.

Usagi closes her electronic journal with a sigh. She'd been here for hours and there was still no sign of anyone. Worse still was that her money was useless--she'd discovered that at the cafe--and exiting the gates wasn't nearly as easy a task as entering them. Usagi lets out a little piff of frustration, when suddenly something catches her eye.

Something was happening in the street. Usagi stands and squints. A skeleton?? Could that be an enemy? Her eyes widen at the sight. He was attacking that person!

Without hesitation, Usagi raises her hand into the air and shouts her transformation phrase. After a familiar rush and swirl of light, Sailor Moon stands in the place of Usagi, garbed in her fighting uniform.

Sailor Moon rushes toward the pair of...well, men wasn't a very good word. People? Shaking it off, she yells, "Hey, you! Leave him alone!"

Death had only been in this city for a day. He still wasn't accostomed to being visible to more than just witches and wizards. It really wasn't his intention to scare people when he introduced himself - he just kept forgetting that those who could see him didn't already know who he was.

It appeared he'd managed to scare his new companion...well, half to death.

This, of course, did not stop his curiousity. TWO PEOPLE? he questioned. IN WHAT WAY? He'd seen some people insist they were in fact two, but those who said that often turned out to be crazier than a troll volunteer in a dwarf mine. Sheik, however, did not seem to be afflicted with any mental illness, and so Death's curiousity and questioning continued. YOU ONLY HAVE ONE LIFESPAN. HOW DID YOU COME TO BE TWO PEOPLE?

Further questioning was cut off as a young blonde girl in a skirt - Usagi, he noted, pleasantly surprised to find another blonde with a name in this city - yelled and charged towards him. BUT...WE ARE SIMPLY TALKING, he replied, slightly bemused.

What had begun as simply a trek borne out of intuition had become a debacle. Who was that young woman, and what in the world was she thinking running around in something so skimpy! That outfit would have made a Gerudo blush, and Sheik wasn't entirely convinced that they were phased by anything. At least her entrance was distracting Death. Maybe he'd forget about his questioning.

Though it was strange that she would appear like this. Sheik took a moment to center himself, calming himself, and stood tall. Having a moment to think was doing him wonders. He felt color returning to his face, confidence returning to his stance. Really, was having a passing conversation with Death really that startling? Well, yes, but Sheik could pretend it wasn't.

"Miss, um... can I help you?" He might be startled, sure, but he wasn't in danger. And he didn't need help. "I assure you, nothing," much, "is amiss."
