Boring! That's all that the Actua Are was after fully exploring the place for the better part of two days. There were parts of the hotel that were no longer in use so the brunette had to be extremely careful in mucking about in the building's condemned areas. The staff had let her however, and paid her quite handsomely for dealing with a pair of rather large rats after having been given a meat cleaver, broom and dustpan ( ... )

Hakkai was so busy rubbing his hands together and trying to get heat that he didn't even notice he was blocking the doorway. That is... until someone bumped into him. He turned to find a young girl pressed against the door.

"Oh!! Oh no, I should be the one apologizing..." he said, smiling and rubbing the back of his neck nervously. "I didn't realize I was in the way...

"Here, I'll move. It's too cold out to be standing by the door like that." That said, he stepped aside to let her pass. Come to think of it, he should probably see about working for some food, too.

"I agree!" Selphie replied with a smile as she walked directly underneath his arms. That was definitely an advantage so short but the brunette didn't wish to entertain the notion of being used as a leaning post. She looked back at the tall man with a monocle, head band and...really cool clothes in her opinion and nodded.

"It's okay," she replied. "Accidents happen and I'm pretty clumsy so, no worries!"

It was true accidents did happen. But as her trail of though went from bumping into this person to why they were standing by the door trying to warm up when it would be constantly swinging open and closed well... it just didn't make any sense to Selphie.

"Y'know... I bet it's warmer inside this place so we could go find a seat next to a heating vent and sit there right?"

...we?

Hakkai blinked rather comically, as if he hadn't heard her quite right. Maybe "we" didn't necessarily mean they had to find a seat together. After all, she was a stranger, and he had to find whoever ran the establishment so he could possibly work there. With this in mind, he merely smiled at her and bowed his head politely. "You're right," he said, standing aside to let her pass... again. "Besides, it wouldn't be very wise to stand by the door. We wouldn't want any more accidents to happen, now, would we?"

As he waited for her to step inside (ladies first, after all!), he scanned the room in the hopes of finding someone who even looked like they would work there. The place wasn't too crowded, anyway.

Perhaps an introduction was in order as she walked past him, scanning the room for a table and spotted one near the back. It was rude to just keep talking like this and not know each other's name. The brunette liked to know the names of the people that she met in case she ever had the chance of running into them again.

"My name is Selphie Tilmitt," she said holding out her hand for a handshake. "It's nice to meet you!"

...

My, wasn't this awkward.

Hakkai was just trying to let her pass so that she could go about her merry way, but she seemed more intent on getting to know him. Maybe when she said "we," she really meant it.

"Ah... Hakkai. Cho Hakkai," he said, hesitantly taking her hand. He usually bowed whenever he introduced himself to people, but he still knew what a handshake was. "It's nice to meet you, too, Selphie."

There was yet another awkward silence between then before Hakkai finally decided to move. Hey, if Selphie was going to stick around, he could at least be nice and talk to her. After all, not many people had shown him kindness since he'd arrived, and she was just trying to be friendly. He lead her over to the nearest table and, like a gentleman, pulled out her chair. "Well, you did say you wanted to sit..." he trailed off, laughing a bit.

"If you'll excuse me, I have to find someone who works here," he said, bowing at the waist. "Hopefully I can pay for my meal that way."

Hesitant described Hakkai to a tee at the moment but Selphie was used to dealing with shy people. The perky brunette knew that shy people opened up once you got to know them better and would just let the conversation flow like that.

She allowed herself to be lead through the hall toward a table. She smiled as Hakkai pulled out a chair for her and settled herself after he pushed it in for her. "Thank you Hakkai," she replied cheerfully.

When she heard that he was leaving to look for work to pay for a meal, Selphie thought of something. "What if I bought you something to eat?" she asked with a smile.

Well, she certainly was the bubbly-type... which was good, in a way. She'd probably be doing most of the talking for them. Hakkai was used to that sort of personality after dealing with Goku, but hopefully, Selphie didn't have an appetite like his. Inwardly, he wondered if a girl her size could eat as much as Goku could. He wouldn't be surprised if she could.

"I couldn't ask you to do that," he said with a smile. "I don't want to impose." Since he'd come to Paixao, he relied on others to get by. First Yuuko paid for him to stay at the Actua Are, and now Selphie was offering to buy him a meal. But he'd have to start doing things for himself eventually. There was no telling how long they'd be stuck in that weird city.

"But what if I'm offering?" Selphie interjected. It wasn't in her to let a person starve, considering that this one was nothing more than skin and bones to begin with. If Matron were here and this were any one of them, they'd be glued to their chairs and stuffed full of the best home cookin' she'd ever had.

What was it with the people he'd met here being so... giving? Not that he objected to that, of course, it was just so new to him. He was usually the one giving to others, not the other way around. Hakkai paused for a second, contemplating her offer before he finally just shrugged and laughed it off. "Nothing I do will persuade you otherwise, will it..."

He stood there, awkwardly, for a few minutes before he finally seated himself, unsure of what to. "I do hope I'm not a burden," he said, forcing a smile. "If there's any way I can repay you, please let me know."
