"Hmph~" Yachiru looked away from the blonde, pout still firmly set in place, though she didn't do anything else to outwardly object to the handholding. The pink-haired girl found the contact was strangely comforting, (though, the pat on the head was still questionable) and it was obvious that Rangiku was trying to make peace between them. Nodding curtly at the older woman's explanation, Yachiru mulled over her words before deciding that she was satisfied with the answer. Ken~chan would be a better choice for a teacher, after all~!

Then it hit her. Rangiku had said that Ken~chan was on his way. Ken~chan was coming to meet them. Delighted with the new development, Yachiru giddily jumped up and down, but still retained her hold on Rangiku's hand. Smiling warmly, Yachiru squeezed the blonde's hand, any feelings of resentment Yachiru might have felt for the older woman had vanished as soon as the new prospect of seeing her Ken~chan had come into play.

"Na, Matsu~Matsu...~ Thanks." She chirped happily.

Rangiku smiled, glad to have at least corrected a possible fit by her little friend. Keeping one hand relaxed in Yachiru's grip, she lifted her free one to brush back her bangs while shielding her eyes from the near-dying sunlight.

Well then, she mused, if anything, all they had to do now was wait for Kenpachi to show up. Hopefully he wouldn't take too long arriving.

Blessed hell, sometimes it helped to be so gigantic. Then again, a man'd have to be blind to miss someone like Matsumoto. Well, blind and maybe gay. But still. There they both were, looking like they'd been waiting for him for a bit. He shrugged in his haori, dismissing the thought. Eh well. He was here now, and that was that. Late, early, who cared.

He canted his head slightly to Matsumoto, before the corners of his mouth twisted up into a small but geniuine smile, slightly twisted down on the left side because of his scar. "Oi. Matsumoto-fukutaichou. Fancy seein' you here." He purposefully ignored Yachiru, just because he knew it would drive her absolutely nutty. He wanted nothing more than to pick her up by the back of her hakama and set her on left shoulder where she belonged. He almost chuckled, counting mentally the seconds before Yachiru popped.

Well, there was a welcome sight.

Rangiku smiled and nodded up at the giant of a man who walked up towards them, his shape and form a distinct silhouette that temporarily blocked the late afternoon sun from view. For most Zaraki Kenpachi was a sight to intimidate anyone (as tall men with hair fashioned to stick out purposely in all directions tended to do).

On a more personal level, Matsumoto just found it amusing that with each step that that he took, the soft chiming of tiny bells on the tips of his hair spikes accentuated the movement with a familiar ching. It honestly put to mind the image of an overlarge (and possibly stiffly fluffy) alley cat on the prowl (the prowling of alleys itself had long wedged itself as a trademark of Kenpachi's, the way she remembered him from Seireitei), but she kept that little bit of information to herself as she wasn't quite sure if the sentiment would sit just as well with the little one at her side ( ... )

Dark brown eyes widened and took on a distinct sparkle as Yachiru looked toward the all too familiar silhouette. The small Vice Captain of the 11th division was probably the only one that could get away with calling the fearsome Captain Ken~chan, and though it was true that Zaraki's sheer presence was enough to intimidate most, the pink-haired girl was not affected by it in the slightest. Well, to say that Yachiru was not affected by Zaraki's presence would be a lie, it would have been more accurate to say that Yachiru was not negatively affected by the presence of her Captain ( ... )

Shrugging his heavy shoulders at Matsumoto's comment on his 'cheer', Kenpachi found himself quite distracted by Yachiru's indignant reaction. Angling his head to look at his tiny Vice-Captain, he raised a heavy brow at her ( ... )

Rangiku smiled and ran a hand through her hair to scratch the back of her neck lightly. What a trio we make, she thought inwardly, amused. It was a sight to see any day, a little girl with pink hair on the shoulder of one of the most fearsome-looking men she'd ever come to meet. She'd never say it to his face, but after seeing Yachiru perch on his shoulder that way, anybody would likely have second thoughts about being afraid of Kenpachi. Truth be told though, that worked more to his benefit than against it ( ... )

He popped the joints in his shoulders and neck noisily, as if expecting a brawl to come screaming around the corner. Kenpachi was getting itchy. Not in that 'need a shower' itchy, (although one could have helped) the itchy that came from having too many unanswered questions in an unfamiliar place. On top of it he was getting a fair bit grouchy from no sleep and taking up shelter in an alley. Granted he had come from living in alleys with no food and no slumber, but it had been a long time gone since Zaraki province. Yet he wagered he could still dwell in an alley and think it a lavish house ( ... )

Ran frowned and nodded, though she quietly thought that by doing so only made things worse. "Thought I was going to fall apart for a minute." She bowed her head a fraction, the frown still on her brow. Nothing was right about this. Nothing.

She contemplated asking about whether he thought Aizen had something to do with their predicament, but then decided against it. Opening up the possibilities just didn't seem like the best idea right now.

Especially not when zaraki Kenpachi was getting that look in his eye.

The look that said he was itching for a fight.

Straightening, Rangiku brushed back several strands of blond hair that had fallen into her eyes. She was a Vice-Captain, damn it. So was Yachiru. And they had Zaraki as Captain so it wasn't that bad. At least they didn't have to look out for rank-and-file shinigami who'd likely muck things up and make everything worse.

Buck up, Matsumoto. You didn't reach your rank for nothing. "Zaraki-taicho," she began, "I hope you don't mind me stating the formality, but until things ( ... )

An expression like he'd just had just had something heavy dropped on both his feet took over his usual 'just point me in a direction and I'll start swinging' face. He was indeed the leader of the Shinigami who'd been dropped here, if only by title alone. "I s'pose I am." Kenpachi muttered, glaring at the air over her head hard enough to tear a hole in the space-time continuum ( ... )

It was tiring, listening to Rangiku and Zaraki talk. Perhaps it was because the young girl saw things so simply that she couldn't follow the complications that the two elder Shinigami placed such high importance on. Although, to Yachiru, the sudden discontent and apprehension that now hung in the air was quite apparent, and a small frown tugged at the corners of her lips. Just because a place was new and different, well, that didn't warrant condemning the place, right? Even if their transportation to the city had been strange, they were fine now, and she was with Ken~chan. That fact made Yachiru more than content with her surroundings ( ... )
