a valentine to the variety;

Roses are red, violets are blue;
   Think of the things you've yet to do.
The lily is pale, the ivy is green;
   Think of the things than you haven't seen.
The crocus is purple, the clover is peach;
   Think of the things you've yet to teach.
The jasmine is white, the marigold, amber;
   Think of the things one must remember:

Ha...! Beautiful. It takes an intelligent man to properly weave the silk mantle of poetry around such banal words as men speak!

Thank you, as well! Perhaps we could discuss the craft over coffee at some later date.

The mention of all those flowers makes me homesick... but you're right. We're stuck here and there's no point moping about what we can't do while we are; it's a lot better to be focused on how we can help each other and ourselves.

An excellent attitude! I'll admit; this valentine began thinking of violet carsons---roses I raise, which have likely finished dying, with noone to tend to them. (Still, I suppose they'll stay, and dry, and some should seed---I shan't lose them.)

Should you find soil, I'd like to learn of it.

Your children are flowers?

Oh, no, no! I've simply kept the rosebushes watered and well-lit, although they are darling.

Such command of prose!

"Everything's possible, nothing is true..." How very true indeed. Or... untrue... I think I have gotten my point across well enough.

It was a pleasure; poetry is the evidence of life. If your life is burning well, poetry is the ash.

There is the improbable, but it's near enough to whatever's next.

What's so great about this? Anyone can write stupid poetry.

Roses are smelly and violets are too;
Flowers are stupid and so are you.

Heh, see?

"If conditions aren't right, the poem won't come out. It will sit inside and stew, and emerge a different beast." The important thing is this: that it emerges in some form, for everyone has some word to add to the song of the world, if each one will will to raise a voice. You've contributed, which is something in itself.

At least I've prompted a couplet.
