I apologize, I haven't lived up to the expectations of my office very well, and this is my attempt to rectify the situation.

If you do not trust my offer, then I understand, and you are free to not take advantage of the offers.

An escape hatch to the mainland.

No, no, I jest. We're attempting a sort of transporter between worlds. If nothing else, we'll attempt a road and dock.

For now, transportation about the city can still be easily handled with the train system.

I was beginning to wonder what had happened to you.

Do you recall our previous conversations, in which I offered my services to your office and, by extension, the city? It was suggested that we meet, but a time and place were never quite set. It so happens that I have a great deal of free time - my previous employer does indeed seem to have vanished - in which to accomplish such a meeting. I await your convenience.

I do remember them, but I haven't been able to authorize such a move. The citizens of Paixao are naturally wary of allowing a non-Paixaoan to have control of the city's military or police forces.

Perhaps we may be able to compromise to something else.

To be quite honest, I would be surprised if this city has a militia. Unless there are other islands nearby with the intent to invade?

At any rate, you will find my talents extend beyond the military. I would be quite amenable to working in some capacity for your office. When is the most convenient time to meet with you, or one of your subordinates? I'm sure you are quite busy; a subordinate would be acceptable, provided they have the full weight of your authority.
