we need a replacement for me...

We need to hire a new Executive Assistant / Development Coordinator at the Archive because I'm leaving the country. We're located in the Presidio in San Francisco and we do really awesome things, like helping keep old links alive with our Wayback Machine, digitizing Public Domain books to bring them online, and getting lots of older media online. I've wondered whether or not the position would pay enough to actually live in the area. It certainly sounds way cool.

Well, yes it does because I live in San Francisco and managed to pay off my credit card debt. But, we don't have an extravagent lifestyle, or kids, or own a home.

I would love to talk to you a bit about the job, the organization and my qualifications before I send in my application. Would you be available for that? We exchanged cards on Saturday night, so I will give you a call later to check in with you about availability/timing.

Thanks,
Kim

I thought about you, but we're in the Presidio in San Francisco, so that would be a horrible commute every day. It's important to be here at least from 9-5 every day. But it would be possible to take BART and then the PresidiGo from the Embarcadero BART stop to the Presidio, so you could get out of driving, but it would be a long commute. This is not to discourage you from applying, but the commute is something to consider before tossing your hat in the ring.

At the very least you should know how to create a webpage, with tables, ordered & unordered lists, and how to format text in html. You should at least know how to move, copy & rename files with Unix and be comfortable with quickly learning more.

How much administrative experience have you had?

Aren't you also looking at leaving the area, or am I confused? We want someone who will stay for a couple of years, at least.
