[FANFIC] She Still Remembers ll Ben/Rachel
OMFG! This is my first ever Real Persons fic and my first ever The OC related fic. I love the idea of Ryan and Summer. And i love the idea of Ben McKenzie and Rachel Bilson. Just LOVE it.
So today when i woke up, i just had the strangest urge to write some BR. I doubt anyone will read this or care but i figured it was something for me too, since i'm such a huge fan!

Summary; She still remembers the first time they met.
It was the first time she’d seen him in two years. But that was mostly due to the fact she didn’t run in the same circle as him anymore. After the show, she had focused more on movies whereas he went onto do another show. Southland. She’d seen it a few times but only because he was in it. The concept held no interest for her - but he did.
She remembered the first time she saw him, all those years ago. Her part was originally small, she wasn’t supposed to stay on the set for more then the first few episodes. But for some reason the audience had loved her, been charmed by her character and wanted her to stay. She could still remember the fluttering in her stomach when Josh told her; he wanted her as a main character. A huge swept of emotion ran through her when she found out - when she accepted. Ben had been the first person she’d seen and therefore the first person she told. Although, something inside of her told her, he would have been the first person she told no matter what. He was always the first person she told everything too on set.
Mischa held no interest in anyone on the set, the first thing Rachel had noticed was how much Mischa had in common with Marissa. What a great casting role that had turned out to be. Adam was self-obsessed and annoying when they had first met. He was the type of guy who thought he was funny and nobody else did. She hadn’t liked him at first but then Ben got a girlfriend and Adam was there and before she knew it, she was dating the guy she disliked to begin with.
She grew to love him eventually but no one could replace Ben. Ben was…Ben. He was funny and kind and sensitive. He was always looking out for her. He was protective when she first started dating Adam, asking her to be careful.
She had always felt something for him. He was handsome and she was attracted. She wasn’t blind. His shy demeanour had dragged her in. He didn’t speak to many people when the show first started but he always spoke to her. They were forever having their own private talks on and off the set. Often, secretly meeting up for coffee and sending each other secret looks whilst filming a scene.
When she started dating Adam though, it all stopped. Ben grew cold and distant and she was hurt. He was her friend that she had always felt something more for. Something she could never act on. During season four they had some great moments. Rachel had felt a sudden rush and became light headed when she mentioned the words “I love you.” To Ben, sure they were for the character Taylor but still, uttering those words in Ben’s presence let alone his character…it had caused the craziest sensation to emerge.
And then when the show ended, they no longer had a reason to talk. They no longer had a reason to meet up for coffee, to have talks on and off the set or to send each other glances whilst filming. The phone calls they had shared became less and less. Rachel broke up with Adam. She lost contact with Mischa and initially lost contact with Ben. And that was the hardest of all. She felt like she was losing a part of her and it didn’t sit well at all.
She saw Ben a couple of years later though. She was at a New Years Eve party and he was there. Alone. As soon as she saw him, she forgot everything, she forgot how they hadn’t spoken and grinned at him. When he finally spotted her, he smiled and waved. Without thinking she ran towards him, throwing her arms around his neck and pulling him close. He responded just as eagerly, pulling her closer to him and pressing her against his body.
When the countdown began, they were standing next to each other so instinctively they looked towards each other and slowly leaned in to kiss. It wasn’t a big kiss but it was a kiss that went on far longer then the average ‘New Years Eve’ kiss.
After that they had spent the rest of the night standing next to each other, not always talking sometimes it was complete silence but their presence was enough for the both of them.
Ben had walked her home that night, she still remembered the way his arms felt wrapped around her waist. It just felt so…right. And she welcomed it.
But that was two years ago. And now they were both standing, on the same carpet for some event that was just a twisted version of what their show used to be. She hadn’t seen him until her publicist motioned towards him, her heart had momentary stopped until Ben had looked up and their eyes had clicked. He grinned and her heart started beating again. Because of him. Always because of him.
He ignored the photographers requesting him to pose; he ignored all the people screaming his name and just began walking towards her. She stopped her posing too and stood still where she currently was.
“Hi.” He grinned that same grin all those years ago when they first met.
“Hey.” She bounced her head slightly, the same way she had when they first met.
She remembered it all. The same words, the same movements, the same feeling. She still remembers.
