anyone want to do me a tiny, nitpicky detailed favor that involves figuring out how to cite the most ridiculously recursive reference? specifically, how does one cite a law quoted in a supreme court opinion given in a transcription of a case found in a reference book?

apparently, I am not allowed to just cite the law as a law. *headdesk*

presumably you're not allowed to just cite the law as the opinion has some bearing on your use of the law?

so textually cite the opinion + case

as in
"as demonstrated by this case cited in this supreme court opinion in this case." (transcription of case found in reference book)

now that I'm over that... I essentially did that. With a kind of made up footnote. Because caring is difficult when you have 100+ footnotes.
