The thingy is called a cut, the instructions are in the FAQ. But I will tell you, it is quite easy to remember after a few times.

I am putting *'s in to break up the text so you can see it. Remove the *'s to make it work.

It starts <*lj-cut*> where you want the cut to start.
Then you type what you want behind the cut, or scoll to where you want the cut to end.

To end the cut type <*/lj-cut*>. Anything between the two will be behind a link.
