A certain malaise today, though no concrete reason for it. Something inside me wants to have this conversation out, wherever it leads, with someone who takes it in places other than the ones I'm thinking about. I usually avoid telling anyone anything, but sometimes the censor lets it by, and I find myself talking and wondering if the person even

Well, you won't have much time to barricade yourself in Wisconsin; soon you'll be off to parts unknown and you can have out those conversations with some interesting person. Have you tried putting less secrecy in your writing?

Exclusivity and mystery are part of what make people interesting, don't you think?

I don't know what you mean by exclusivity exactly. Explain please. As for mystery, if by that you mean the things they hide, than I'm usually more interested in why they hide things...and if I can figure that out I often figure out what they're hiding along the way. But I might be just as interested in finding out why a person isn't the type to hide things (I may just be an unnaturally curious person)....I'll have to do some pondering when I'm a bit less sleeped deprived.

I think there's something to be said for the feeling of knowing someone well in a way others don't, in a way similar to the specialness people feel when they have inside jokes.

As for hiding things, I think subconsciously people are more interested in people about whom they don't think they know everything because it gives them a sort of reason to get to know him/her. Maybe not though. Maybe I'm just scared if I revealed more, it would be easier for others to realize they're not interested.
