[Tutorial] Embedding pictures in LJ comments

Oct 18, 2014 14:17

So more often than not, my giveaway challenges involve linking pictures.
While it is perfectly fine to leave your entries with links to the pictures, if you would like to know how to embed your images into the comments using HTML, keep reading.

Embedding Images to LJ comments

Step 1.
If it isn't already, upload your image to an image hosting site (eg. photobucket, flikr, tinypic, etc).

Step 2.
Type or copy and past the following into your comment:

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m194/Effi-G/IitaiDake.gif"/>

Step 3.
Copy the direct link to you image (If you "open image in a new page" the link will appear up there). It should end in ".jpg" or ".gif" or any other image file extention.

Step 4.
Replace the example link with your image link. (The example link is displayed in purple above.

Step 5.
Enjoy your embedded image.

Changing the size of your image

If your image is too big and you'd like to decrease it's size, there are two ways you can do it.

In Step 2 above, use the following instead:

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m194/Effi-G/IitaiDake.gif" height="x" width="y" />

and enter the exact number of pixels you would like the width and height of your image to be.

OR

http://i104.photobucket.com/albums/m194/Effi-G/IitaiDake.gif" height="##%" width="##%" />

and replace the ## with the percentage size of the image.
