Continued from Act 1 (part 3)

(The thin screen comes down and Jirozaemon, Jiroku, Otatsu, Kujuu and Zenji come in front of the stage)

Otatsu: Thank you very much for coming today! I hope you had a good time!

Jirozaemon: Can I visit again?

Otatsu: Of course you can!

Jirozaemon: Umm… haha, I was wondering… if I were to purchase an oiran? I mean, have her be my wife?

Kujuu: Are you talking about “miuke”?

Jirozaemon: It’s called a “miuke?”

Kujuu: Yes, it is. But you see, in Yoshiwara there are rules…

Otatsu: (Cutting in) If I were to tell you a price, it will be… 1,000 ryo!!

All: 1,000 ryo!?

Kujuu: Honey, that’s too much… (Otatsu kicks him in the shin) OWWWW!!!!

Otatsu: Yes, if you can pay 1,000 ryo, the rules don’t matter anymore. Thank you! (Walks away)

Kujuu: (Trying to walk away but his legs hurt) Zenji…

Zenji: Sir! …Oh, I suddenly remembered something! (*Walks away and leaves Kujuu behind, lol. He put a lot of adlibs here too, such as “Sir I think it’s broken again…”)

Kujuu: Owww… (drags himself away)

Jiroku: Danna-sama…

Jirozaemon: Jirokuuuu…

Jiroku: 1,000 ryo??

Jirozaemon: Jirokuuuuu…

Jiroku: It’s too much… (they walk away to the right side of the stage)

(The thin screen comes up to reveal the silk factory in Sano. The workers are making silk, but they seem unwilling.)

Workers’ song: After we weave one, we weave the second. After we weave the second, we weave the third. After we weave the third, we weave the fourth. We keep weaving the silk of Sano… (ends with a sigh)

(Jiroku and Oichi come out from the side and start to put some energy into the workers.)

Oichi solo: If you keep working like that, the silk is crying! Let’s weave more excitingly! Follow me, like this!

Jiroku & Oichi song: After we weave one, we weave the second. After we weave the second, we weave the third. After we weave the third, we weave the fourth. We keep weaving the silk of Sano!

Jiroku & Oichi & Workers’ song: After we weave in the morning, we weave at noon. After we weave at noon, we weave at night. After we weave today, we weave tomorrow. We keep weaving the silk of Sano!

All dance: (Using the tools of the silk factory)

Jiroku & Oichi & Workers’ song: The silk of Sano is #1 in Japan!! (ends with a showing of different colors of silk)

Jiroku: Okay you guys! Work hard! Work hard!

Oichi: Wow, Yoshiwara really sounds like a place that costs you a lot of money.

Jiroku: Isn’t it crazy? 1,000 ryo, 1,000 ryo!

Oichi: 1,000 ryo!

Jiroku: With 1,000 ryo, everyone in this factory as well as their families can live for at least two years. But Oichi. I have served my master ever since I was a child, and for the first time I have seen my master look that happy! That’s why I want to do all that I can to help him out.

Oichi: Jiroku-san!

Jiroku: Yes?

Oichi: Can I be of help as well? I don’t know if I can be helpful at all, but…

Jiroku: Oichi! Thank you! …Oichi! (spreads his arms out)

Oichi: (Runs over to Jiroku and into his awaiting arms.) Jiroku-san!

Jiroku & Oichi: Hahaha! (Twirls around cutely and happily as Jirozaemon comes in.)

Jirozaemon: Let’s work hard today, everyone! (Looks at the happy couple with jealous eyes.)

Jirozaemon: …JIROKU!!!!!!!!!

Jiroku: Oh yes! Hi, sir! When were you here from!?

Jirozaemon: I have been watching for a while… (*This is where Shota and Kazapon’s adlibs are at their bests. This part was different for all the shows, but the general flow was like the following:)

Jiroku: Danna-sama, I have something I want to talk to you about…

Jirozaemon: What! Are you going to let me join you guys!? (*Sometimes Shota would say “Look, Jiroku, the workers want to talk with you” or “Jiroku, close your eyes for a second” and then call “OICHIIII <3” to him, haha)

Jiroku: No! What are you saying in front of my fiancé!

Jirozaemon: Oh come on! For a change??

Jiroku: No!!!

Jirozaemon: Aww (sad face)

Jiroku: Anyway, danna-sama! Oichi and I were just talking. We want to help you out as much as possible so that you can pay the 1,000 ryo to have Yatsuhashi as your wife!

Jirozaemon: Haha, Jiroku, thank you… but no thanks. I can’t use that much money for myself. I think there are ways of living that are fit for each person. I want to make this silk factory bigger and be able to pay you, Oichi, and the workers here more money so that you can live happily.

Jiroku: Danna-sama… I will be serving you forever! Right, Oichi?

Oichi: Yes!

Jirozaemon: Thank you!

Oichi: Danna-sama, will you excuse me; I have to go and get some stuff for tonight’s dinner.

Jirozaemon: Okay, thanks.

Jiroku: Something delicious! (*Kazapon had adlibs like “I want fish for dinner tonight!” or “Don’t go following people you don’t know!” etc.)

Jiroku: Okay, back to work…

Jirozaemon: Jiroku!

Jiroku: Yes?

Jirozaemon: (Looks around and makes sure no one overhears him) Oooonce in a while… just once in a while, I plan on going back to visit that place again!

Jiroku: Sure!

Jirozaemon: Jiroku? (still smiling)

Jiroku: Yes?

Jirozaemon: What happened to you and that girl after that? (suddenly straight face)

Jiroku: Bwaaahhhh!! (spouts) Haha, danna-sama I don’t know what you are talking about…

Jirozaemon: Oh you do know exactly what I’m talking about! (*From here, Shota and Kazapon’s adlibs go crazy, haha)

Jiroku: No, no. I didn’t have anything to do with Suama…

Jirozaemon: See!! You even remember her name!!!!

Jiroku: Danna-sama… (suddenly goes down on his knees begging) PLEASE!!!! NONE OF THIS TO OICHI!!!! PLEASE!!!!

Jirozaemon: So you did have something, eh!! Hahaha!! (Sounding all excited, lol.)

Jiroku: Please… none of this to Oichi…

Jirozaemon: Oh, don’t you worry! …I will tell everything to her.

Jiroku: Noooooooo!!!

Jirozaemon: Haha, I’m just kidding.

Jiroku: How about you, sir?

Jirozaemon: What about me?

Jiroku: You and Yatsuhashi dayuu! How was it!?

Jirozaemon: Oh, nothing!

Jiroku: Oh come on!

Jirozaemon: There was nothing! (acting all shy)

Jiroku: Oh come on!!

Jirozaemon: It’s too embarrassing!!

Jiroku: Fine, then you don’t have to tell me (walks away)

Jirozaemon: Noooo! Ask me!!

Jiroku: See, you do want to talk about it!! (*You just know what’s coming here but every time they do this it is SO CUTE)

Jirozaemon: Jirokuuuuuu <3

Jiroku: Yes?

Jirozaemon: Yatsuhashi said that she likes my bruise!

Jiroku: Nice!

Jirozaemon: I felt like I was reborn!! I wish I could “miuke” her… if only I had the money! Haha.

Oichi: (Comes running) Danna-sama! Danna-sama!

Jirozaemon: What’s up?

Oichi: Look! (Gives Jiroku a flyer) They were distributing this right there. I think it says something about silk.

Jirozaemon: Oh really? Jiroku, read it to me.

Jiroku: Sure. ‘In the east, the temperature has not been warm enough so the price of the silk is going up.’

Jirozaemon: That’s right…

Jiroku: Yes… ‘However, in the far west, the temperature is just right to raise silkworm, so the price of the silk is very cheap.’ Hmm, I wonder what that means…

Jirozaemon: JIROKU!!! This is it!!!

Jiroku: What? …OH!

Jirozaemon: This is brilliant, Oichi!!

Oichi: Was I helpful!?

Jirozaemon: Not just helpful! This is great!! Oichi, if they’re still giving out this flyer, stop them from doing it! If you need to, buy the entire stack! Jiroku, let’s get ready for a trip!

Jiroku: YES!

Jirozaemon: We are going to the west and purchasing tons of silk!! We will sell them here and become rich… this will help me “miuke” Yatsuhashi!!! Jiroku!!!

Jiroku: YES!

Jirozaemon: LET’S GO!

Jiroku: YES!

Jirozaemon & Jiroku dance: “Let’s go west” (Through their dance, they express their long trip out to the west, going through obstacles. WONDERFUL DANCE that includes Shota’s sexy hip twisting!!)

(They take a break midway through their trip to have some tea, and then run the rest of the way to Osaka.)

Silk merchant 1 in Osaka: Danna-san! How about our silk!?

Silk merchant 2 in Osaka: How about ours!?

Jirozaemon: (Looks at the silk) …No!

Jiroku: Next!

Silk merchant 3 in Osaka: Ours is the best!

Jirozaemon: This is it! Bring them all!

Silk merchants: Ookini! Ookini! Ookini! (Thank you!)

Jirozaemon & Jiroku & Silk merchants & Silk factory workers dance

(Sano’s silk factory ship appears and Jirozaemon and Jiroku get on it)

Jirozaemon: We’ll sell and sell and sell this silk! We’ll be rich… I’ll be able to “miuke” Yatsuhashi!!!
