"Right here." Chase had pushed the door open just in time to catch House's last remarks. He tossed his newspaper on the end of the table and walked over to the coffee pot. He kept his head tilted down and slightly away from House, because he didn't want House noticing the bruise on his jaw ( ... )

“Wow,” House remarked when Chase made his appearance known, abruptly halting his juggling. He watched Chase move across to the coffee pot. “I wish you were always that prompt whenever I summon for you.”

House frowned at him with interest, noting the way Chase was walking with his head down turned, as though he was in a mood. Cameron interrupted, however, saying as she gestured to the files on the desk, “So, what about all of these? None of these interest you?”

House snapped his attention from Chase to Cameron. “Do I look interested?” he snidely replied to her. Cameron gave him a look just as Chase joined the table and made that remark about whether he was really needed ( ... )

Chase saw Foreman peering at him and when he realized what Foreman was looking at, he immediately tried to warn him off with an almost imperceptable shake of his head. But as always seemed to happen around the Diagnostics office, Chase was just a fraction too late. And then Cameron chimed in, and House, and there was nothing for it but to give some sort of explanation ( ... )

House remained eyeing Chase sceptically. "It's obviously something you don't want to talk about," House remarked, ignoring Chase's comment about whether they had a case. He swallowed his mouthful and gestured at Chase with the apple. "Otherwise you wouldn't be so evasive. You know evasiveness isn't going to work.
