Jack, Elizabeth, William Turners, and the subtle art of memory management.
This one came out of nowhere after I'd finished moving the Truths and Lies stories to this account. If you haven't read those, it works as a standalone.

There's way too much there there, the weight of the past crushing (but not flattening) present and future. I love Jack nervously primping for William, and I love the Jack/Elizabeth relationship in this, too. Wonderful work, angst and humor and a sweetly bittersweet ending.

Thank you!

Never thought I'd be writing J/E, but I suppose it creeps up on you. NOBODY primps like Captain Jack Sparrow!

That's gorgeous, with depths that aren't apparent at first. The way he's teaching her to forget, the comment that he knows about invisible lines, and she won't be his again until they get to dry land.

I love the scene with Bootstrap -- how nothing is said, and nothing is to say. What can they possibly say?

I also love the "Bloody Turners" and the embrace between them. They understand each other, and you show that so well. Just wonderful!

Thank you! That's high praise, especially coming from you.

I keep trying to write Jack and Bill reunited scenes, but as you said, "nothing is to say," which makes for tricky dialogue.

I'm sure it's your influence that's got me writing J/E - that and the whole peas in a pod thing. Bill/Jack slasher that I am, when Liz and Will were swapping boots on the beach, I was immediately imagining Jack and Bill on the other side of the island...

Sort of an aerial pan, and then Jack and Bill on the other side, with some trees between, just enough not to hear or see....

You've seen it too! If you wait long enough after the credits, and close your eyes really tight...

Oh I liked this and I don't even like slash. You captured Jack's voice and way of thinking very well! It's nice to read something worth commenting on...there hasn't been a lot of that lately. Hope to read more from you soon!

Thank you very much!

I hope you read more too! I'm still moving my older fic into this account, but there's plenty there already. Although if you don't like slash, that could be a problem...

The Shine stories are slash-free so far. Truths and Lies varies - there's always Jack/Bill in the background, but other things too, I hope. It's all tagged.

Jack's voice is such fun to do - as long as you have a good stash of brackets and dashes.

*flails* So many great lines! Let me pick out just a few:

“Just as well!” mutters Jack, making sure the more obvious love-tokens are clearly in evidence. Bah, I don't care what I look like! *primp, primp*

Casually? Jauntily? Insanely? Haven't we all wondered if we appear the way we think we do?

He gives her a rakish grin. It takes an effort to start it off, but he can feel it getting bigger and more wicked all by itself. Not just the smile either. This is just the greatest.

Dear Jack. If he's not being trailed by multiple selves, he's being haunted with the spectre of Bootstrap!

Dear Jack indeed! I sometimes wonder if I give him too much of a hard time ;)

I'm sure Jack spends a lot of time primping even though we only see tiny hints in the movies.

Thanks so much for commenting. I love comments like Jack loves rum.

I'd love to write more Jack/Bill, so it'll probably happen one day. But there is the teensy tiny problem that I've already laden the poor dears with so much emotional trauma they can barely move, let alone speak to each other...
